Hi, this is not explicitely a visa question, but without a bankaccount no extension of stay right? Here my question: After opening the account for the deposit fund of 800'000 baht, do the banks accept the sum in cash? (baht or foreign currency) or do they only accept transfer from my home bank? There are many different infos about this issue. Thanks for your appreciated help.

Thanks for the private answer. For my initial non-O retirement visa I have to show my home bank account for the last 3 months before applying with the 800'000 baht in foreign currency. As soon as I enter Thailand with this visa I have to open a thai bank account, which I still do not have yet.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the requirements for a Non-O visa and the importance of having a Thai bank account to meet the 800,000 baht requirement for a one-year extension. Users provide details on whether banks accept cash deposits to meet the financial requirements, how long the funds must remain in the account, and the applicability of affidavits from embassies based on nationality. It is clarified that funds can come from cash deposits or transfers, but must be seasoned for a specified duration before applying for an extension.

If you have a retirement income (Rente) then it’s much easier to get the visa in Germany. It can even be done online and you don’t need to have the 800K, just your Rentenbescheid.

I simply checked your profile. As a German citizen, you can use the affidavit proof of income from the German embassy in Bangkok (only Americans, English and Australians have to use the 12-month bank receipt proof)

Gregor Huettner Indeed. And I thought it is even not possible to use the 12 months of income when y'r Embassy still hands out affidavits. When you have an affidavit, income has already been proven. Besides the Affidavit or

This has nothing to do with the application o immigration. This depends on if the Thai embassy/consulate of your home country, accepts an income which is NOT derived from a pension. For a proof using the 12-month bank statement on the immigration in Thailand, any kind of income is accepted. The source is irrelevant. You actually could install an money transfer caroussell, if ya know what I mean

@Gregor *********
, yes but this could also be from a company?

no. You need accumulated monthly entries into your Thai bank account, month for month, within a period of 12 consecutive months. And the bank must issue a "letter of guarantee" over exactly these 12 month of transactions

For an extension of stay the money does not have to come from overseas but still needs to be seasoned. So if you get a Non-O from your own country before coming to Thailand you need to have 800k baht in a Thai bank in your own name for 2 full months before applying for the first extension. Unless of course you come from a country that will provide an income affidavit

That depends on your nationality. IF your embassy in Thailand issued an affidavit for your funds in/from your home country, you can use it as proof of your required funds.

If your embassy doesn't issue an affidavit, you need to have 800K baht or equivalent in foreign currency in your Thai Bank account. (You can use a foreign currency account - but better to check your local immigration office).

For 1-year extension application, your funds of 800K baht have to sit in your bank account for 2 months as of the day of application.

The funds can be transferred or just put in cash deposits.

You need to check with your embassy, otherwise, better to hurry to open your account. BUT unfortunately, opening a bank account is not in the scope of this group.

Attached is the general requirement for 1-year extension based on being over 50. Get the latest handout from your local immigration office ASAP.
