It's already been 3 months since DTV launched.

All DTV visa holders are still having trouble opening bank accounts here.

I emailed all the banks every week and there were no updates from the bank of Thailand. I guess we just pay agents to do this 😭😭

Hello. Not a visa issue.

I have received a check for tax refund but it's exceeded Citibank mobile app limited amount.

Can I mail in the check to Citibank in US?

Cannot find a deposit slip online though.

TIA.

Is it possible to change your "home branch" with a Thai bank? I opened an account with Bangkok Bank in Chiang Mai but never travel to Chiang Mai anymore. I can't do anything at other branches. They always tell me I have to go to the Chiang Mai branch. Can't update my passport # (Got a new passport after opening my account). Can't reset my online banking credentials, etc.

I'd like to change to a Bangkok branch.

I opened a Bangkok Bank account a few months ago, in Pattaya, Soi Bakhao.

Afterwards I met my visa Agent in BKK and was able to get a bank statement in BKK.

Today, I want to Bangkok Bank and requested a statement, but the teller refused me, telling me I had to go to the branch I original opened the account.

What is with that? Why some branches can provide statements whiles will not?

What happens if I want to move to another region, say Phuket, how will I get a bank statement from my Branch in Pattaya?

Today I tried to open a bank account with Bangkok Bank in Phuket as per the requirement to deposit the 800K for the Non O Visa. While completing the paperwork they suddenly informed me that I had to pay 5,900 baht for another insurance policy and another 1400 baht to open the account. I informed them that I was already fully covered for the same insurance they were trying to force on me. This was not accepted by them. So, I got up and walked out. Is this the new norm for foreigners opening bank accounts in Thailand?

Because of the current problems many expats are experiencing when transferring their monthly 65k Baht to their Bangkok Bank account via wise not being designated as international, I’m seriously thinking of changing to banked money. Has anyone done this already. If so, do I need to have the banked 800.000 Baht in my account for just two months prior to applying for my next extension, or does it have to be in my bank (my name only), for a whole year. Also, do I need proof of the money coming from abroad.

Problems certifying money came from overseas.

Today applied for 12 month extension of stay based on marriage. Now on 90 day visa to visit Thai family, got back from UK September, quarantine etc. Many years have used embassy letter to show UK income enough, last year used SCB 12 month statement and letter, backed up by my UK bank account statement and 12 months of Transferwise statements. Well over 40 K every month,

Problem this year is officer will only look at SCB official statement, want statement from SCB for 12 months certifying that at least 40K came from overseas bank to SCB account. I have used Transferwise for many years. My money goes to Transferwise UK account and Transferwise is sending to Kasikorn bank who forward to my SCB account, so SCB cannot see money from abroad and so will not certify. Went from immigration to SCB direct. So now stuck. Immigration officer said busy this week, come early on Monday for queue and bring SCB certification which I cannot get. So what do I do.

Thinking of writing it all down, from my pension income to my UK bank, Uk bank to Transferwise, Transferwise to SCB via Kasikorn, each transaction with monthly and year totals. maybe translate to Thai??

Also they insisted on all 12 months, which is not a problem for me, but coming in on new 90 day, I thought 2 months would be enough

I wonder if anybody has had the same experience and what happened. I have asked that my bank give me the required letter showing 65,000 baht coming into my account each month. I have two pensions but 3 of the payments came in via smart payments and not by international transfer, my Bank says I have to approach the other bank to get a letter to cover these three. Has anybody had to do this and what happened?
