When my wife and I applied for ours online in Vietnam (Thai embassy in Ho Chi Minh) they also wanted proof of where you are. Easily enough done, a few selfies outside the post office in Hoi An. Also a bill or reciept with your name on it. Again, easy enough. Got the hotel we were staying at in Hoi An to right me out a reciept for our stay. For my wife, the moped rental shop wrote one out and signed and stamped it for authorisation.
