@Diana ******
it is worse in our so called 'free space' (Europe). Without proof of 55 Euro a day or someone to guarantee for you you won't get a Shengen visa (90 euro). We can at least walk into Thailand for free for 60 days... and a 30 day extention is only 1900 Baht. Again no money-proof asked... Lodging yes (TM30).

Ah I forgot. They also never asked where I was going (proof of lodging). (I had the addresses written on paper).

I travelled into Thailand three times last year. I was never asked for proof of funding or an amount of cash (I didn't even bring any)... And also not asked about proof of a return/onward ticket.

Don't be a tight-arse, just enjoy your entry/trip in Thailand 😄

The Thai Government website tells it all. Too complicated to answer. Every person has a different background and situation.

This, simple, question is not easy to answer in a few minutes. Do your research!

@Jeffrey ******
I bought this at CJ's. Also handy for facial skin problems. But against mosquito bites it is wonderful!

just leave it Brandon. It's not worth it. This guy has a set mind. Your answer is totally right. I was also thinking: "what the hell is he trying to tell us?!".

Well like any rules and regulations (like carrying your passport always, but people will say "I always take a copy. Never a problem..." Until they pulled you over): it is mandatory (for extention surely, but also in general). If you choose not to get one it is a 1600 baht fine (I believe). I didn't extend in December because I didn't have one...

I entered at BKK last October, 60 day visa exempt. The lady customs officer didn't ask me anything. No boarding pass, no proof of funding, no address where I was going to stay, no return ticket. Nothing. Just my passport, facial recognition and digital fingerprints. And stamped me in.

58 days later I left in the bio check line (face and prints). No actual person. So I just walked out of the country.

I didn't file for the TM30 (Proof of address: I stayed with my girlfriend. It is mandatory, but is only a problem if you want to extend 30 days, which obviously I did not do, because I had no TM30. I regreted it. If you stay at a hotel or homestay, they file for the TM30).

Mind you, I had already been in January/Februari for 33 days (applied for visa already in the Netherlands months before that) and in March 12 days (Australia in between).

No questions were asked about that either in October.
