if the license from your country is in English, or you have a certified translation, or international driving permit it should be possible to skip all the testing and get a thai license

yes very easy, pass immigration and take the other train on the other side of the station. A couple years ago I paid 50thb the thai train and 11.4rm the malaysian train plus 1.2rm the ferry, prepare some rm beforehand

hmm never heard of that, I've been using it for 5 years, not sure what's the biggest transaction I've made, not enormous but more than 50k

not Vientiane, only Savannakhet, multi entry best option for me, do it once and never see an immigration office or consulate again for 15 months
