Hello, I'm looking for border run options from Krabi. I've already done Padang Besar and Dannok, would like to try Ranong next time.

So I'd like to know, is the border open? Is it easy to get from Krabi to Ranong border on public transport? Is it possible to stamp out and back in same day? What's the visa/day pass cost for Myanmar? Do I need to get on a boat?

Terrible bus ride from krabi to Ranong , ferry terminal is at immigration , Ranong , I went January 10 2020 , remember well lol was my 50 th birthday , I had no problems then , Thai immigration stamped me out and officer told me to make sure I was back before 4 o’clock , obviously doing border bounce , no problem , my girlfriend stayed in Ranong went shopping , . Paid 300 baht I think , can’t remember maybe cheaper but my Thai not great and lady shopping , Thai guy put me on long tail with couple of French backpackers and Burmese workers , middle of trip you stop at island , Burmese had to get of , we stayed on board , but boatman took our passport and copies I think , everyone get back on and head Myanmar , stop , get of long tail , was asked when back I said few hours , through little office , hand over passport and crisp 10 dollar , ps there’s a god chance of getting slightly wet on long tail so be aware , , oh and falling in at piers , your climbing over boats to get to land , could have turned straight around and come back , but hey , met little street urchin , spoke loads of languages , got duty free cigarettes , told him I wanted beer , he took me shop , I took him bar next to immigration , had 4 beers each , I paid , cost me about 100 baht and that included tip for lady at restaurant , , probably walked no more than 200 meters in Myanmar , absolute easy , you don’t actually get a visa for Myanmar as you can’t travel , much further . Tipped my guy , but you know enough now so your call be he was great , spoke his own language and a good few others , great source and good fun , , . Well sorry so long but when I went I was flying blind , always good to have as much information as possible , can’t see it would have changed much as it’s the way the mynamese get into Thailand for work , on way back repeat little island , got back Thailand in probably 4 hrs , immigration officer stamped me in , wished me happy birthday , very easy . But bus Ranong to krabi long and slow , and I mean long 7 hrs of bad roads , no problem for me but lass Very unhappy , .

u can stay up to 14 days in Burma but cant travel more than 20 kms from Town

.Pre covid a seat in a boat was 100 baht ( 50 if you speak Thai) or the full boat 500

Ranong is a good option. You will need two copies of your passport and a crisp US $10 note for the other side. You negotiate for a long tail ride and takes about 40 minutes each way. You’re in Myanmar for about 10-20 minutes depending on whether you want duty free or not.

40 minutes quite a long ride, is there a ferry or anything like that? Can you show me on maps where to take the boat?

If you want to know about Ranong then ask in the koh Phayam Facebook page.

You say you've already done 2 border bounces. If you entered without a visa at a land border 2 times in 2023 already then you're at the limit. You can only enter visa exempt (without a visa) 2 times per calendar year at a land border.

If you've already entered twice you'll either need to do a border bounce by air, or you'll need to travel to a Thai embassy in Malaysia and apply for a tourist visa or other visa in order to be able to return.

I received a report last week from someone who went to Ranong. They abandoned their plan to do a border bounce there after the Thai immigration gave them a hassle. But they were going for a new visa exempt stamp. I'm not sure if it would be different with a multiple entry visa.

you mean they had less than 2 entries and still had problems?
