TLDR : Answer Summary
To leave Thailand and enter Laos with a car that is not yours, you will need a passport and a declaration from the car's owner granting you permission to use the vehicle. Additionally, if the car is under financing, you will need approval from the financing company. Many commenters suggest that transporting a vehicle not owned by you can be cumbersome and may not even be feasible, advising travelers to consider crossing the border without a vehicle and renting one on the Laotian side instead.

If the car is under financing, u need finance company approval as well. Its a pain, cross the border and rent another car
A pain in the ass. A bad idea. Maybe not even possible. I bring my truck over, but I own it and it took a long while to do it the first time. Better idea would be to cross over without a vehicle, and rent one on the other side.
ok so basically I need to go dlt with the owner and ask what to do, any other office I need to visit? All other papers and insurance I can do myself at the border?
can be done in a day? How much will cost? I went to Cambodia on motorbike before but I don't remember going dlt, is that needed because I'm not the owner?
