Should I expect any difficulty crossing to Laos on a personal car?

Is it better to go through Ubon Ratchatani, Mukdahan or Nakon Phanom?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When crossing into Laos with a personal car, there are specific considerations to keep in mind. Ensure that the car is registered in your name to avoid difficulties, especially if it is rented or has outstanding finance. It's crucial to have the car stamped in at the border and to purchase the mandatory insurance available there. Regarding entry points, the main options are Ubon Ratchathani, Mukdahan, and Nakhon Phanom; personal experiences suggest that crossing is straightforward if all regulations are followed.

was reading about car passport, do I need that? How much did you pay for insurance in Laos and what border you crossed?

Could be a problem if it’s a rented car or there is finance on it. Others will know more.
