Thank you! Yes, I've been living in Bangkok since December, have a bank account. My husband is working here, I've been on STV - same-sex marriage. But thanks to your advice, I'll now apply for retirement visa. The $800k came from overseas, my Thai bank can verify. Very much appreciate your helpful advice!

Do I need to have booked a return flight out of Thailand when arriving visa exempt?

Oh, great to know! So as a visa-exempt tourist I can apply for retirement visa? Re timing: I have to leave Thailand by Oct. 15, on Oct. 30 my $800k will have been here for 2 months. What are the other ducks required? Health insurance? I believe I do not need the background check if applying within Thailand? Anything else?

oh - also, I’m here because my husband is working here, so we moved here for his job. They’ll only issue tourist visas to same sex spouses.

of course. But I meant I’m not here on vacation, & I do not have a residence anywhere else at this time.

But, I mean, I can't apply for retirement visa this quickly, can I? I have to renew in September, need to send the funds over to my Thai account. Doesn't it take a couple of months to organize?

Hi. Yes, I'm over 50 - If we stay in Thailand longer than the 1-year contract, I'll apply for retirement visa.
