Hi all. My first 1-year Non-O retirement extension expires January 31, 2024. My question: what’s the timeline when you apply to renew. Is there an “under consideration” period like the first-time application, or is renewal granted right away? (I’m considering a few days overseas travel around the New Year, but may skip travel if the longterm stay extension is still in process.) Thanks for any advice!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The timeline for renewing a 1-year Non-O retirement extension in Thailand typically allows you to apply when you have 30 days or less remaining on your current extension, but some offices will accept applications as early as 45 days out. Most immigration offices will issue the extension on the same day if all paperwork is correct, while some may have an 'under consideration' period. It's important to ensure that your bank account reflects the required 800,000 THB for two full months prior to applying. In Bangkok, it is common to receive the extension by the next day if the application is submitted correctly.

You haven't said which office you use so it's impossible to give an accurate answer.
Most offices will issue the 1 year extension the same day you apply. Some will do an under consideration. You can apply when you have 30 days or less left at most offices but some will allow you to apply at the 45 day mark. Don't forget your bank account needs to be back at 800,000 for 2 full months before you apply, not before your extension ends.
some officers may like to see the monthly deposit on same date each month and marked on the statement as a pension. They like regularity from the same source.
