Hello all. Question on timing for the process of applying for retirement extension inside Thailand: Taiwan citizens are now permitted to enter Thailand visa-exempt for 30 days. Is 30 days enough time to apply for conversion to the 90-day Non-O inside Thailand? Or should the Taiwan citizen obtain a 60-day tourist visa with the goal of converting to Non-O inside Thailand? (Other items, 800k in bank, residence, etc are already done.) Thanks for any advice!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Taiwanese citizen can use the 30 days visa exemption to apply for a conversion to a 90-day Non-O visa inside Thailand, provided all necessary documents, including the required bank funds, are in order. Some offices may require the funds to be in the bank for at least 2 months; if this condition is met, the applicant can apply for a 30-day extension if extra time is needed for processing, with at least 15-21 days remaining before the application.

Some offices require the funds to be in the bank for 2 months already when applying to convert to the non-O visa. So as long as that's already done then visa exempt is plenty of time because they can apply for a 30 day extension if they need more time. They will need between 15-21 days remaining at the time of application depending on the office.
