I question for anyone who has just arrived in Bangkok by air. This may be a little long but I still confused by the immigration officers response.
I arrived early this morning from the US. Going through the immigration line and the officer looked at my passport and the Digital Arrival Card. I did the DAC at home and going through the questions, the boxes for “ where are you staying” and “On ward travel or return flight” were grayed out and you could not enter anything. So I tried it twice same thing. I went ahead with the process and it let me. Within minutes I received the email as completed and then printed it out which was one page. I also copied the QR code.
When she saw the DAC paper work she asked “ where is the second page, where are you staying and how long do you plan to stay. I am staying with a friend and had the address. She also wanted their name and phone number which I had. I had booked a flight to Cambodia out about 55 days in case I was asked this. I had planned on 60 days visa eexempt and possibly applying for the 30 day extension. Long story short she called my friend, apparently ask our relationship, ask how long I was staying and then told them they would need to take me to immigration ansi would need to get a Visa to stay longer. Now mins you, she only told them this and did not tell me. She finally stamped my pass port and I met my friends outside. They then told me what she said and none of us understood why she would say I need to go to immigration and get a Visa.
So if anyone may have an idea or if you are flying in just be aware of what they may be looking for on the DAC and hopefully you do not have the same issue. Thanks
My 60-day visa exemption expires on March 29th. For personal reasons, I would be better off extending it in advance. If I extend it two weeks before it expires, will Laksi Immigration do it?
Is there anyone in the group who has extended it successfully in advance to a similar length of time?
I wanted to give a thanks to everyone here in giving advice towards getting my Non-Immigrant O visa with out needing to get an agent. It was actually not so bad going through Bangkok Immigration the other day (the folks at Thai Immigration were all really nice and helpful!) and I don't think I could have done it myself with out the advice from many in this group. This is hands down the best visa (and everything!) group since the others I had been in the admins would delete just about every post and were so weird about moderating a lot of questions. Thanks all! Now to the next hurdle... the year long extension!
Update: 30 day (visa exemption) extension at IT Square Laksi Plaza, Bangkok - super simple and smooth process. All staff and even other applicants were very easy-going and helpful. TM6 not required. Whole process took less than 30 minutes for me (having already prepared my docs, photo and photocopies the previous evening) - Plenty of passport photo and photocopying services/facilities available :) FYI
Hello! Please clarify -
Do I still need TM6 for Visa exemption 30-day extension ? I didn't actually get one when flying into Bangkok and wasn't asked for it at immigration. But, I do intend on applying for an extension and I know that TM6 used to be/maybe still is required.
What is the current process and documents needed to change from Non B extension of stay due to employment to extension of stay due to retirement for Bangkok office?
When getting the covid extension in Bangkok I have a question on the TM30. In Chiang Mai I had to go to another office at the immigration center and get a physical piece of paper to stick in my passport even though my hotel had registered me. Do i need to do the same in Bangkok, where do i get this piece of paper , is it the same room as the other visa extensions? My hotel has assured me I have been entered in the system and I have a photcopy of form they filled in but dont know if this is enough, trying to get everything in place so I can make the whole process as smooth as possible when I head there this week. thanks
Closed loop on under consideration mtt. Visa exempt entry, us passport, 60 day covid extension. No lines. Handed passport, given number to sit, returned in minutes. In and out in 20 min total. Painless right now. It was almost like a fairy tale.
Was straight forward for me, I went upstairs and they gave me a card with a queue number (two cards, with the same numbers).
I waiting for about 30-45 minutes and then they start to call out the numbers. They take your passport and one card and then I waited for another 30 minutes, they then changed us to another room and returned with the passports and started calling out the numbers again.
Very straight forward process.
