no such rule exists, unspoken or not. I've entered 3 or 4 times this year with a longest stay of one week. Over the previous 12 months probably 10 or 11 times, averaging out at about 4 days per visit. It's about days and intentions and not number of entries.

Very unlikely. I went 9 or 10 times last year, been twice this year. Never longer than 10 days in a trip, sometimes just a long weekend and haven't been asked any questions by an IO.

Lee Harris depends how often he stays. Over the last 12 months I've entered about 10 times, probably accumulated a max of 40 days over those trips. Clear and obvious pattern that I'm not trying to live in Thailand on visa exemptions.

Ralph Tyson well, it is. You maxed out your visa exemptions on both occasions then left before getting an extension on either.

Nongnuch Kamdee the number of visa exemptions per year is irrelevant, it's the number of days and it sounds like he's been maxing them out hence being pulled aside.

Scott Hutchison well that blatantly isn't true. In most, it not all countries, sourced income is taxable in the country of source regardless of residency status.

You can also be a tax resident with fewer than 180 days in a country...I suggest you look up the UK's tax residency rules (Statutory Residence Test) as one such example of this.
