I was denied entry into Thailand once last April due to visa runs. But was eventually able to get in a few days later. I then left two months later and haven’t been back since. I’m planning to go back in April making it 1 year since I was denied and about 10 months since I was last there. What are the chances I am denied entry again? I’ll only stay for 55 days with return ticket, funds, and accommodations. But I’m flying from the States and I don’t want to be turned around and sent back. Should I just go with an agency that will get me in? Or is a year enough time.
Answer summary
The user is concerned about their chances of being denied entry to Thailand after experiencing a previous entry denial a year ago due to visa runs. They plan to travel back for 55 days with all necessary documentation, including a return ticket, funds, and accommodations. The community suggests applying for a tourist visa to improve chances, noting that while no guarantees exist with immigration, a proper visa and sufficient preparation could positively influence their entry.

Nobody can answer because it depends on the immigration agent. An agency can't guarantee that either... If they do, it's a lie.

Get a tourist visa, it can avoid further questions at immigration.

How about this ? Dress well and look classy - unshaven, long sleeve, preferably with jacket, good hotel etc

You should be in a much better position now since it's been about a year since the denial and 10 months since your last stay, especially with a clear plan like a 55-day visit, return ticket, accommodation, and funds. In most cases, that's enough time and people get in without issues, but things have been a bit stricter lately so it's never guaranteed.

If you want to remove the risk given the long flight, using an agency can help, and our team can review your case and arrange VIP entry for extra peace of mind:

I'm hearing this more and more for various reasons.

Fail safe plan, fly to an alternate nearby country, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia and book a separate flight to Thailand. If you get refused entry you will be deported to that country and you are still on holiday

Darryl Paul no but this guy wants to “live and work remotely ” in Thailand. 55 day holidays in USA dont exist usually.

You said "I was denied entry into Thailand once last April due to visa runs."

Denied where ? BKK ? Border ? "due to visa runs" ? What does that mean ? Visa runs are legal. Don't passports get stamped when a visa is denied, along with a reason ?

"But was eventually able to get in a few days later"

Allowed in where ?

You were denied 2 days previously and allowed in 2 days later ? How do you suppose that happened ?

OP
Alan Rothwell Denied at Don M airport. For too many visa runs. They are legal but with too many, and “too many” completely depends on who the IO is that day, they will deny you entry. I did 3 while there.

I was allowed into BKK through agency.

travelboyrd there is no limit on number of visa exempt entires. They asked you for some proofs also. Did you have them?

travelboyrd I am surprised you were allowed back in after two days being denied.

I was denied in October 2nd. Same reason as you. Which agency did you use? I want to go back but have been hesitant.

I have considered tourist visa too but agree that it’s not guaranteed

travelboyrd Ahhh, so you got in via an agency. Interesting.

May I ask how much that cost you ?

Thanks. 👍

You should be fine mate. It's been a good period of time. Just have funds, exit flight, and smile at the officer. These crackdowns are to stop people working illegally. Clearly that's not you.

OP
Sam Ebb true, but i will probably still go with safe entry agent. My main thing is being sent all the way back to the states after just landing from that long, expensive route. Small chance, but it’s too dependent on how the IO is feeling that day.

travelboyrd I think there’s a big chance. They are getting very strict. I have never done a border run or overstayed but I do max my stays - 2 a year. That was enough for them to give me a hard time.

travelboyrd safe travels mate. Do what you feel you need to. All the negative posts online are usually people abusing the visa exempt rules. All the best!

Ain’t no one in this chat that can give you an accurate answer. I believe you should be fine . You can go with an agency for peace of mind or just do the online visa & have everything together once you see the Ofc in charge .

Darryl Paul Nothing is garrenteed with Thailand immigration but it should at least improve his chances of entry with a prearranged tourist visa ..

His problems are obviously all self inflicted from previous bad decisions and not following the immigration rules

I understand it can but does it, like can’t they still turn you away with tourist visa? For instance I just saw a guy in here saying he applied for a tourist visa, and every comment is saying “doesn’t mean you’ll get in”
Brandon ************
Brandon ************
@trave******
they can turn anyone away for any reason. But being gone for that many months means your chances are better, and a tourist visa increases them.

Or save the $50 the visa costs and put it towards a safe entry agent to guarantee entry.

the owner of this group offers safe entry.

You fill out their TDAC form and on the 2nd page select safe entry, answer the questions, and it will quote you the price.

true, I will likely go with safe entry, do you know or have experience with any reputable services. Will do my own research of course but this is apart of that.
