Even flying to Laos, paying and waiting two weeks for an appointment to see the embassy, and to get back to Thailand took me exactly one month and that was a long time for this visa. They might have said that so they have more than enough time as some might take a month. Ask them if that's the maximum amount of time or whether it will actually take that long. If they say the latter I imagine the delays their side

I flew to Malaysia for lunch then came back 4 hours later and all was fine. No issues whatsoever. Not saying it will always be like that but in my case it was pretty smooth

Apply at an embassy outside of Thailand and ensure you remain there until it's approved. For workation purposes youl need:

Proof of remote income and employment.

Letter from employer giving you permission to work remotely.

Cover letter from you saying why you want the visa and assuring you won't work for anyone in Thailand.

500k baht savings (some will say you don't need to show you had it for three months but I disagree, you do need that in many cases)

Good places to apply are:

Vietnam

Laos

Malaysia

Your home country

Vietnam and Malaysia will be pretty quick process and all done online. Laos will make you sit and interview at the embassy to approve it.

If you choose Laos, it's right across the border from thailand, apply in Vientiane l, upload docs and go pay the 10k baht fee at the embassy on the morning and then get a train to vang vieng and party or chill there while you wait for the interview appt as it's nicer than Vientiane.

You can get the Dtv for soft power purposes aswel as workation of your applying for a course etc but I don't know the process on that as I did workation.

Laos process from arrival to visa approval usually takes about a month. The other countries I hear often much quicker sometimes a week.

MemorableCrocodile2121 I agree, their not lol. Thailand doesn't try and take care of the world but it's certainly taken care of Myanmar refugees since their just across the border and have been having a very hard time for a long time now. Ide say that's acceptable. Is westerners do not become refugees just because a country we bombed bombed us back or happened to bomb our hotel while wer on holiday lol
