True Tod. But when I handed the guy my passport he mumbled something like "hmm... denmark..." and looked at me rather oddly until I handed my letter of reference and he cheered right up.

2. I got a "letter of reference" from my embassy. The (Bankgkok bank) guy lit up like a christmas tree when I presented that.

Some embassies will maybe just give you a copy of your passport and stamp it. Should work equally well.
