Why should I keep my boarding pass when traveling through Thai immigration?

As I was walking through swampy with my fast track guy (again, highly recommended!), he asked if he could see my boarding pass. I had already binned it and he said I should always keep it.

What might be the reason for this?

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
Keeping your boarding pass can be crucial for several reasons: it is often required at immigration checkpoints, it contains personal information that may help verify identity, and it is useful for frequent flyers to track their mileage. Some travelers have encountered issues when they didn't present their boarding pass at immigration. Additionally, it serves as a proof of carriage and can help prevent potential security issues.

Good idea to keep if you are a frequent flyer, proof of carriage and help keep track of your mileage.

IF you had kept really old boarding passes like the ones which existed before they were computer printed, you could sell them to airline memorabilia collectors. Even old air sickness bags attract big $$$

I wish I'd kept every boarding pass in my life, I have no idea how many flights I've taken and where I've been.

Fast track immigration officer asked me for a boarding pass last time i used it in Suvarnabhumi 2 week ago.

The bar code has a great deal of personal information within it and it’s best to take it away and destroy the pass properly.

The boarding pass has a lot of personal information on it as. Best to keep them till you leave the airport then destroy it.

Extra security, they should always check boarding pass with passport at every check point. security check, immigration, before boarding the plane.

This was after arriving. I've never heard of needing the boarding pass after that. I'll keep it in mind from now on, though.

You must keep and show your boarding pass at the immigration desk, I've seen people have problems with this in the past.

At the priority immigration I'm never asked for it though, they are pretty easy going there.

Yer it's not a big problem but it can cause unnecessary hassle. The plane should tell you before you disembark, but they don't!

some people might use two passport with different name.....

Could also be luggage tags related as usually the tags are on the back of your boarding pass. Incase your luggage did not travel with you...

Immigration officers might request it or you did not fill in the arrival flight on the arrival form or just to double check you filled out the correct flight number on the arrival card.

Wild guess though...
