What are the documentation requirements for obtaining a SETV from Bali, Indonesia?

Bali update. Just got a SETV from there, and it was fairly smooth. No problems at DMK either (I have a METV and a SETV and a good bunch of stamps from around the world in my passport.)

I went on Tuesday to get the form and try and confirm a few things (semi successful). Went again on Wednesday to submit and then picked up on Friday. During the first two visits I saw a grand total of three other tourists. EVERY one of which were turned away due to lacking documentation. The requirements are as listed on the Jakarta embassy page (which refuses to load at the moment) with a few twists.

First, I don't think they mention a copy of your main passport page. But bring it. They're not interested in your Indonesia stamp page.

Second, you need to show "proof" of payment of your onward flight from Thailand (which has to be withing 60 days!)

Third, a copy of lease is not good enough. That has to come with some additional documentation, like a signed copy of the owner id. Or house book or some bullshit. I opted for a (refundable) seven day hotel reservation. Which feels, well, beyond silly.

All in all a bit of a headache.

As a place to chillax and get a visa I really can't recommend it. Feel free to pm if you're interested in the more touristy aspects.

Oh, and big thanks to Luke Thomas who clued me in on the requirements. What could we do without this forum?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shares their experience obtaining a SETV from Bali, highlighting specific documentation needs that are not clearly listed on the Jakarta embassy's website. They mention that applicants must provide a copy of the main passport page, proof of onward flight payment (within 60 days), and comprehensive lease documentation, or alternatively, a refundable hotel reservation. They also note that their visits were crowded with tourists turned away due to incomplete documents. Other users comment on the evolving nature of these requirements and share additional insights into the application process.

It must be remembered that Thais are only helpful and pleasant when it suits them. Embassy staff are up themselves and are no exception.😛🤣

I have always found MOST Thai Embassy and Immigration staff to be exceedingly patient, kind and helpful when treated with the same respect that you would like to be treated.

This kind of comments are maybe nice on some other pages, but definitely not needed as Visa Advice. Personally I think if this is your opinion, it is better to pack your bags and leave Thailand and stop commenting on Thai related pages.

what do you mean by the hotel reservation... did it need to be a paid for reservation that you then get refunded? or just a normal reservation?

Ah! The gf knows that :) I'm pretty sure that would be ok.

That is Thai for “Deed of Trust” or “Title”. An ownership document for real estate

"Chanote"? Not sure what that is.

Can I show my Condo Chanote? I’m the owner

No, I booked a refundable via booking.com. Didn't have to show proof it was paid for. I did for the flight out of Thailand, though.

Always do your research before you go to an Embassy. Lots of Embassys these days DO require the 3 proof ofs, not just Bali such as Malaysia, Vietnam, etc.

1) Confirmation of itinerary out of Thailand

2) Bank statement at least 20,000฿

3) Hotel reservation/Lease agreement

Bali is one of the easiest consulates I have ever been to because no one is there, it takes 10 minutes total to be there and you're done. Just have the 3 documents required and there's nothing to worry about.

As proof of payment he would take the last page of the airasia pdf confirmation (receipt). The pdf comes as attachement to the email sent by Air Asia. In the case of Thai Lion Air, the pdf file is an e-ticket/ receipt (one page only), so those should be good enough. Both confirm payment. But obviously a mastercard statement is even more solid.

Well, I'm not 100% certain. But he appreciated my (master card) statement showing the flight was paid for. That is not immediately apparent on the booking thing they send.
Jason ******
yes because if it is a real booking confirmation, it will show the price on the e-mail you get. I just showed the AirAsia email I got after I booked my flight, it also includes the receipt showing how much I paid, so why would this be an issue?

That was not my experience. Cf, the post. I showed "proof" that my ticket out of Thailand was paid for. The guy seemed to support that idea. But I can't say for certain if it's a requirement.
Luke ******
Yeah 2 years ago he was accepting the flights within 90 days. I can screenshot his posts on ThaiVisa. Sorry if that turned out to be an inconvenience, that's what I meant by "they keep changing their stories as the wind blows". Thanks for the report.

@Chris *****
you buy a 30 day extension at the immigration office once you're in thailand :) .

30 day extensions are sold by the immigration office INSIDE the country, visas are sold by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs offices at consulates OUTSIDE the country.
Chris ******
Actually, if I recall correctly that was the Denpasar honorary consulate offering the ability to add a thirty day extension.

@Thomas Lindegaard Jensen - I choose to burn bus tickets to Phnom Penh -- They're a little less expensive. I have seen but not tried the Air Asia upgrades will allow flexible reschedule. If you shop around you can find the upgrads sometimes aren't that much more expensive -- sometimes they are quite expensive

Thanks man! I'll try that :)

Type of Feedback: Refund

Subcategory 1: Airport tax

ORIGINAL POSTER
Haha! Thanks again. Had absolutely no notion of that.
Luke ******
Airport tax can be claimed back online from the Air Asia website. For flights departing from DMK it's about 700 baht. Comes back to the card after a few weeks. It cuts the loss.

Indeed. Kuala-not-going-lum-something.
Luke ******
Was it an Air Asia ticket?

Cheers mate. Burning plain tickets is just a part of this deal, I guess :)
