Hi

I have received

my NON-O retirement Visa and will be leaving on the 11 of Dec 25

To Bangkok Thailand

I have secured a condo

For a year s lease

And will take the necessary docs to immigration and then to a Bank to open a Bank Account my question is what steps to take to deposit the required monies into the new Thai bank after opening this bank account

I can have the required monies

Sent directly to bank in Thailand thru USA bank

But that would take some time

Hours days ? does bank allowed

Time for monies to transfer

As I would not have the required deposit on my person

Please advise as to how to

Accomplish this task

Thanks

So, I'm not sure if this is general knowledge, as I've been told before.

I opened a Bangkok Bank account ten days ago. I then used Wise to transfer ten thousand pounds (400k baht). I also transferred some extra, realizing how quickly Wise worked and that you can be like a Thai and use the QR code with it to pay private accounts. The bank just rang me this afternoon to tell me that the 400k cannot be touched.

It shows I have the money in the bank, but my available balance is only twenty-six thousand. She says it is trapped for 6 months. Luckily, I had put it in there, and I was going to forget about it.

So, each year I have the four hundred k required, but I'm letting people know in case your situation is different.

Hey all, I know this question has been covered a lot here, we have our dtv visa and ww have wise and Revolut and true money account. So we didn’t think we would need a Thai bank account since they are almost impossible to open. But our medical insurer Allianz has just told us we need a Thai bank account for reimbursement as since October 1st they no longer do it by cheque! Has anyone had any luck whatsoever of opening even a basic bank account here in Thailand on their dtv visa, either alone or through an agent? Many thanks in advance!

O-X Visa: who has this visa and can comments on pros and cons? I have a Bangkok Bank account and can transfer the 3 Million baht; this technically has me fulfill all requirements to apply from NYC. Here's what I've gathered:

CONS

1. Mandatory Health Insurance from a limited number of providers.

2. Mandatory 90 day reporting (1st in person, subsequent online)

3. Long stay tax liability/filing.

4. Not sure what investment products I have access to in Bangkok on my funds: need to research CD rates.

5. Odd process: what if I deposit the funds and then decide not to come or delay my arrival? Are the deposited funds easily accessible/repartiatable back to the US?

PROS

1. 5 Year duration.

2. Fees are reasonable: 400$

I know I can get a Non O and apply for an extension of status; that's an option but O-X might be better.

Hi everyone! 👋

I recently registered for TrueMoney Wallet in Thailand using just my passport. I’ve also applied for a Thai driving license, which I should get by tomorrow. Once I upload it, my account will be fully verified and flexible to use.

My question is about topping up the wallet: Can I use my international debit or credit card, or am I limited to cash top-ups at 7-Eleven or ATMs?

Can someone please explain how it works for foreigners? Thanks a lot in advance!

Chicken or egg

It reads to get a bank account you need a retirement visa, but to get a visa, you need a bank account.

What do you apply for first.

And if you’re out of the country for more than 90 days, is your visa revoked as you can’t check in with immigration?

Another banking question. I opened a bank account at Kasikorn Bank on ED visa 3 years ago. Now since 1 year on DTV visa. My ATM card got hacked (some unauthorized transactions), so I had to cancel it.

Now if I want a new card I have to go with my passport to the branch and order a new one. Will I wake a sleeping dragon if I do that, now that I am on DTV or it's no problem with Kasikorn Bank?

I checked already, I can put cash into my account with just my account number at the cash ATMs. QR is also still working, online transfers into my account as well.

But what if I need a new card, or change my phone number?

Regarding the wise transfers to bkk bank now coded as something other than the previous FTT code. I downloaded the wise invoice pdf which clearly shows it was as n international transfer. However i think is best to start doing wise as a swift transfer to avoid any confusion. Comments?

Change of address at Bangkok Bank. Simple?

You havin' a larf?

At least 20 pieces of paper to sign, some of them copies of already signed copies. Time ticking... finally finished. One day Bangkok bank may fast forward several decades and wake up in a digital era where documents can be scanned. Like they do at Krung Thai, for example.

Smile, say thank you and run, as fast as I can. 🤣😂😅
