Am thinking of applying for a dtv. Is the requirement tk have 500k baht in a Thai bank or in a foreign bank to that value - as I understand you cannot even open a bank account over there with dtv.
My in-laws just retired to Thailand, they just got the 90 day non-immigrant O visa, the stamp on the passport and the visa pdf. They also got a certificate of residency from the police station and have been trying to open a bank account. They have gone to almost every bank in koh samui and no branch have accepted the application for a bank account, despite having all the required documents. They always make up something or just straight don’t want to do it. Has anyone has the same issue? What do you recommend?
No email or SMS notification from the bank. Just opened my bank app out of curiosity after reading a FB post here about his bank app getting locked. Same thing happened to me. So I went to AIS at Central Rama 9, did their ID verification, topped up 100 baht credit to my AIS account and got the AIS receipt which has my details like full name, passport number and mobile number for the bank then went to the bank branch here and after waiting 1 hour, my turn took 20 minutes for the bank to update. After 5PM same day, bank app is ok now.

Hello! Does anyone know of a bank that my husband and I could get a joint account with that would allow us BOTH to use their banking application (using two phone numbers and our own separate phones) and allow us both to have our own QR code without having to get our own separate accounts? We’ve never had separate accounts, so this has been weird to finagle and would like to find a bank that would meet our needs. Thanks so much!
If you are using the 12 monthly foreign deposits to your Thai Bank Account make sure you check your statement when you get it from the bank. I got my 1 year statement and its missing my deposit for both February and March. So I look at my bank book and both deposits are listed on it. I also downloaded the 1 year statement directly from the Bangkok Bank App and they are listed on that. I guess it's back to the bank tomorrow. 5555
