How does the visa on arrival process work for Laos in 2025?

Hi all. Anyone been to Laos recently? My last visit was pre covid, so wondering how things work currently.

According to my (Danish) ministry of foreign affairs, it should still be possible to obtain a visa on arrival aside from the evisa option

Would prefer the former, so would love to hear any recent experience.

Cheers!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around recent experiences with obtaining a visa on arrival in Laos. Multiple users confirm that it is still possible to obtain a visa on arrival, with one noting the fee is around 1700 baht and the process can be quick—taking about 10 minutes. It's advised to have crisp US dollars for payment, as some bills may be rejected. There are also mentions of the e-visa option being available, which only requires a quarter of a passport page but is accepted strictly at certain borders. Participants emphasize the importance of verifying information, particularly as some respondents question the reliability of various sources.

You get visa on arrival in the airport, pay with dollars or baht.

Ask in a Lao group, where they are specilist in Lao related question.

This group is about Thailand as staded in the first word in the groupname.

this is directly related to Thai matters. I have no further interest in some Lao group. For now, at least.

I’m US. Can do visa on arrival. Just best to have perfect US dollars, and I mean perfect, to buy it. They rejected two of my bills. It was easy. I was worried for nothing. I got through in 10 min.

Yes. Saw someone do that.

Yes visa on arrival is possible. It can be a long wait, and it takes an entire page in your passport. If either of those is a concern, then you could look at getting an e-visa which only takes

of a page. Evisa is only accepted at certain borders though.

Why would the information on the Danish foreign ministry website be less reliable than Facebook?

You are joking, right?

are you being serious?

I didn't say it would be. Was asking for recent experiences. The Danish foreign ministry isn't always up to date for every country. Which is understandable and they also point that out on the site.
