What should I do after being flagged at immigration with a METV while married to a Thai citizen?

I previously tried to find out if it would be a problem coming for 6 months on a METV, when married to a Thai. I had different answers, but I decided to do the METV.

I came in yesterday, and the IO was not happy about this, so she "flagged" me. I already bought a return ticket to China in order to get another 60 days, and now I worry that I will be denied entry.

What do I do now. Should I be worried about next entry? If I need to get a spouse visa, what about the 400,000 baht requirement. I can not show that it has been there for 2 months. Can I apply inside Thailand?

Any help appreciated!
Summary so far
The user is concerned about being flagged at immigration after entering Thailand on a METV while married to a Thai citizen. They are worried about the implications for their next entry and are seeking advice on whether they need to apply for a spouse visa despite the 400,000 baht bank balance requirement. They also query about the possibility of applying for a spouse visa from within Thailand.

VERY GOOD suggestion from Graham Seal ✅

If you'd got a Non-O to enter that would have given you 90 days then you could have done the 60 day Visit Thai Family extension

Your post suggests that you perhaps have a history of spending time in in Thailand which is no doubt why you were questioned. Having a visa is no guarantee of entry so there's no guarantee you won't be questioned again, or even denied on your next entry. I'd suggest you get the proper visa for the purpose of your visit.

If you don't already have a Thai bank account you won't be able to get a 90 day Non-O visa based on marriage inside Thailand, you'll have to apply outside Thailand and when you return open and fund a Thai bank account for the extension of stay

It’s based on your travel history holding a visa is no guarantee

I'm pleased to hear that you were allowed to enter yesterday on your arrival with a METV multiple entry tourist visa.

I looked at your prior posting history on this forum... none seen. This is your First post on Thai Visa Advice.

You may have posted on another FB forum.

Being questioned by Thai Immigration officers on your arrival yesterday likely is the result of your recent history of entering Thailand and use of extensions and or border bounces.

You were stamped in for 60 days yesterday... AND you can get an ADDED 30 days extension at your local Thai immigration office for 1,900 Thai baht.

That means if you go NOW to deposit the 400,000 Thai baht in a Thai bank account in your name ONLY... You will have met the 2 full months of seasoning required to apply for the Non O Visa as Married to Thai.

Visit your local Thai immigration office now... and get their requirements for the Non O Visa as Married to Thai.

Where are you now living in Thailand?

Which Thai Immigration office will you use?

I am living in Bangkok, and will be using Chaeng Watthana. I can extend, but that also means not using my ticket for China. Maybe I have to do that.

My wife called immigration today for me, and they say I can enter on this visa, but I am a bit skeptical. Getting denied entry would be a disaster. Is it possible they tell me to buy a ticket for Denmark

I have been coming on METV the last 5 years, but this time I have 2 visa exempt entries prior to this one. That was probably why I was questioned!

yep 👍 you and thousands of others are on the RADAR by the Thai Immigration officers...and the reason why the Thai Immigration is saying GET THE CORRECT THAI VISA FOR YOUR PLANNED STAYS IN THAILAND.

Lars Zeuner that's your problem right there. You can't live in Thailand on tourist entries. Get a 90 day Non-O based on marriage and a 12 month extension of stay each year. You will need re-entry permits to keep your stamp alive if you want to leave and return

Lars Zeuner Pointless ringing anyone, it's the officer you are in front of when you enter that makes the decision.
