I have heard today that they have now cut the 60 day visa to 30 days but doesn't say when from , my partner and me who are from uk travel every year to stay for 3 months , is it now looking for me to travel on a 90 day visa
Answer summary
The visa exemption duration for travelers to Thailand from certain countries is currently under review. As of now, it remains at 60 days, and there has been speculation about it potentially reverting to 30 days, but no official announcement or date has been provided yet. For those traveling frequently, alternatives discussed include applying for a 60-day tourist visa with a possible 30-day extension or obtaining a 90-day Non-O visa for individuals over 50. Travelers are advised to stay informed but can still apply for visas online without issues at present.

In the couple of years they increased 30 day exemption to 60 days they have also put all visa application world wide online. I used to do a 60 day tourist visa by sending in all documents and passport and getting it back in 10 days. Now no need to send anything. Truly modern system. So when they change it back to 30 days visa exempt there is no real issue. You can apply for 60 days online and extend for 30 days in country. Also can apply for a 90 day non o online with overseas funds and get 90 days without extending. There is no issue really if you can use the internet and can plan ahead. Thailand has come a long way in the last few years.
Its the 60 day visa EXEMPT that is under review Not the 60 day Visa which you can get online. The 60 day VISA can be entended 30 days only at immigration . Dont overstay , watch your stamps in passport.
Just apply for an actual tourist visa. It saves the hassles if it changes. You can either go for the 90 day single entry or 6 month multiple entry visa. Safer than worrying about rejection at the border if on visa exemption anyway.
It's in their parliament this week - it's highly likely to revert back to what it was pre- rise to 60 days, for the majority that would be 30 days. But not expected for a few weeks yet before it's implemented.
Laurie Norton personally, if i wanted to stay for as long as you intend to I would apply for the 6 month multiple entry visa and do visa runs at 60 days to reset it or apply for a 30 day extention at immigration. (but that would still require a border run at some point to get your 4.5 months)
There is no changes to the 60 day tourist visa and doubt there will be, however they plan to cut the 60 day visa exemtion (visa free stay) back to 30 days as it was before.
Paul Jones The 90 days visa IS the Non Imm O visa. There's NO 90 days single entry or multiple entry Tourist visa, they're both 60 days with an option to apply for a 30 days extention of stay.
Visa exempt entry is stll 60 days but if it does revert to 30 days you'd just need a Tourist Visa (60 days) plus an extension to get to 90 days just as it was before July 2024.
Nothing has changed yet. It seems likely to change, but no one knows when.
If you do this every year, then it shouldn't be any issue to you since this change to 60 days has only been in effect for less than 2 years, so it will go back to how it was since before 2024. Just do what you used to do before then.
Either apply for a 60-day tourist visa and then get a 30-day extension in Thailand, or apply for a 90-day non-O visa if you are 50+
John Feldman..not much required for non O if applying from uk..main Th ing is proof of income or savings which can be in a UK bank or building society for past three months
