I am a Canadian citizen and I want to start getting a DTV Visa. What do you think is the best source of accurate information in organizing this for myself. I have been in Thailand for six months now on two Visa exemptions with their extensions. I am gonna be leaving for a little bit and I guess I will be in Argentina and Vancouver Canada. Are there any particular places that are best to apply from? I don’t really know anything about it yet so I’m really just looking for a good source of information. Thank you. Also, my partner and I have two children, age 2 and 11. Do they need a visa because in general, I noticed that people do not worry about getting the children visas as long as they stay in the country and are below the age of 16.
Also next year I qualify for a retirement visa. Are the children covered under that and which age are they covered under that? And do you have to be officially married in order to get your spouse of Visa as well? Or does Thailand recognize common law marriage in some form?
My wife and I are planning to base ourselves in Thailand for the next 2–3 years and (fingers crossed) start our family there. I’m a remote employee for a U.S. company and my wife freelances. A few questions on the DTV process:
1) For the 500,000 THB financial requirement, will bank statements from investment/brokerage accounts be accepted, or do they need to be from a cash/checking/savings account? We have sufficient funds, but one account dipped below 500k recently due to an investment.
2) I’ve seen people mention an employer letter confirming permission to work remotely from Thailand. Is this actually required, and what wording do they expect?
3) I’ve also read that some consulates ask for recent payslips. My wife’s income varies as a freelancer. Because of Trump's shenanigans, lots of business (her clients) put a pause the last six months so he income has been very low to 0. Things are finally kicking in back into gear and she is signing up a few clients, but they won't likely start right before we apply for the DTV visa. Would this be a problem for her application even though we cover the minimum $ requirement? Would you recommend to have her as a dependent, rather than apply for her separate visa?
4) If we apply for her as a dependent, does that mean I have to first get my DTV visa approved and then apply for her as a dependent? Is there a way to do it simulatenously?
Hello, I urgently need your help. Has anyone here ever applied for a DTV (Domestic Tourist Visa) 180 Day for Thailand in Laos that also includes a spouse? We're currently living in Hua Hin on tourist visas but want to stay longer with our children. If so, what documents do we need? My wife and I are married in Germany. We're unsure which documents we need to have certified. Thank you so much, Katrin
Hello, I already have a DTV but wanted to apply for my wife + daughter & wanted to understand the “Financial Evidence”.
Is it sufficient to write a “sponsor letter” stating I’ll be covering it cost & attach a bank statement showing that I’ve had 500,000 THB for the past 3 months or is the requirement going to be 1,500,000 THB (3 x 500,000)?
Hi everyone. Would love some advice please - on how long the money has to be in the account, for a DTV? I've got enough now, but have only had it in my account for a few days.
I would be wanting to live in Chiang Mai. Currently in Hanoi, but could also apply from my hometown in the UK. Which is the most likely way to get approved?
Also, my unmarried partner (we have a child together), can I sponsor him to get one, too? We only have enough money in account for one person... is it possible to apply myself (with our child as dependent) and then to sponsor him to get one after?
Please help I need advice. I have a non-O spouse visa, I applied for mine and my son(17) both non-O visa from the embassy in Laos. They granted my non-o visa, but they gave my son a tourist visa.. I was told in this group that with the tourist visa I could get the non-o without having to cross back into Laos.. but I went to immigration today(Nong Khai) and they told me they can’t do it.. they said I have to start over and do the e-visa again and go back to the embassy in Laos.. so my question is- is there something that I’m supposed to say or possibly go to a bigger immigration office(Udon Thani) please tell me how can I get his visa fixed without doing the whole process over again? I’ll add that he is the step child so my Thai husband isn’t on his birth certificate but I tried to explain that on the e-visa but it’s hard because there’s no way to message back and forth you just have to add it in when you send the documents. Thank you 🙏🏻
Looking for some advice on whether this DTV is even an option for me, please 💖
- it will be just for me and my dependent child, I can show a bank statement of 550,000 THB but only just got this money into my account (haven't had it consecutively for 3 months, and I don't have enough to show it for both of us - so she would be my dependent, but do I need to show 550,000 for each of us or just for myself (if she is my dependent?)
- I'm 32 and child is 3. UK citizens
- we used the UK visa free option for 90 days (extended), did one visa run (stayed away 2x nights) then did another 90 days visa free option (extended), then left. No overstaying.
Is this even a possibility for me? Keep getting mixed advice. Open to different options 😊
I have lodged an application for my DTV, as a dependent on my finance visa, but we are not married. I want to withdrawal my application and apply for my own DTV as a brand new applicant (as I now know this won’t be approved as we are not legally married)
My question is, can I withdrawal my old application and apply again? Or do I need to wait till the application is rejected? I’m mvoing there really soon, and still not got my visa sorted. If anyone has any advice please.
I am wondering if anyone here has had experience with applying for a dependant on your DTV visa that is an adult child that has a disability. I know normally the requirements for a child dependant is under 20 yrs old, but I was told that as long as I can prove that I can financially support my son and have a letter from his doctor confirming his disability (since he can not work) that he can be approved . Any information would be greatly appreciated!
