I am currently a DTV visa holder and applied for my spouse under the dependent category on Monday, including a sponsorship letter. However, the consular requested additional documents to clearly show my salary income in the bank statement I submitted. Since my salary is paid by my home country bank in mmk currency, I used my Bangkok Bank account for the statement. To address the request, I submitted my last six pay slips, highlighted the currency exchange transactions in the bank statement, and provided a clarification letter. Has anyone else experienced a similar situation?

Hello!

I want to study Thai for 14 months in Bangkok and I want my wife to go with me on this adventure. Can I “add” her to my ED Visa or does she need to study as well? We've read something about the Non-Immigrant O Visa, but there's not much information about it being linked to the student visa.

We work online but we don't have enough to apply for the DTV, so we like the idea of spending this time with the ED Visa and then thinking about whether we continue in Thailand or explore more countries in Asia.

Hi!

I’m currently holding a DTV visa and my husband is holding retirement visa. We have a daughter that turn one year old next month. She was born in Thailand.

I intended to apply for her as dependent with DTV but we couldn’t do it because I didn’t have enough 1M baht for both of us. Is there any way that I can connect my daughter with my husband visa? Or anything we can do to get her a long term visa? I have read that child is under 12 yrs old can be overstayed without a fine but we’re worried to be fool around with the rules because we will travel back and forth Thailand a lot. Thank you so much for your advice!

I am debating what way I should submit my application.

Option 1: dependant visa, my husband already got his DTV approved, we have funds in both our bank account.

Potential probelm: we are both canadians, he is polish and we have a polish marriage certificate which stated we are married in Mexico (destination wedding), it is translated and notarized in Canada, we do not have it legalized by poland officials. I consulted an agent before and they said it's required to be legalized which we won't be able to do as we are not in poland.

Option 2: soft power medical, I already have a letter from bangkok hospital for this purpose.

Potential problem: my fund in my bank account had only been in my bank since early September, would that be enough? I can provide other proof of funds in my investment accounts for more than 6 months.

Or would it work if i apply for dependent visa with a medical appointment letter and my current bank statement as supporting ? Or visa versa (apply soft power medical and attach my husband's dtv as extra supporting ? )

I am in hong kong now applying online via hong kong thai embassy (hong kong permanent resident) If that matters.

Thanks a lot for any input in advance.

DTV Success Story

I was granted a DTV visa from the consulate in Taipei. After being granted, I then submitted for my wife and 2 year old son, both as dependents, which were also approved! I applied under the workation category. Along with my passport and visa application, here are the other documents I submitted-

-3 months of bank statements

-letter from my employer stating I could work remotely and all of my work was for companies outside of Thailand

-Employment contract

-Employers Article of incorporation

-Because my bank statements were long, they also asked I submit a separate statement from the same bank account which only listed the deposits from my employer. I get paid on a per project basis, so I think they also asked for this because the payments come in on random dates so it would have been a bit tedious for them to review my entire statements to find them.

-savings account statement which had 502,000 bhat in it

-Passport photograph

For my wife and son I only had to submit their passports, visa applications, photographs, birth certificate for son, marriage certificate for wife, copy of my DTV visa, copy of my passport, and the same financials I submitted for my visa. I was told at the counter they actually probably wouldn’t need the financials since I was already approved for my DTV but kept them with their applications just in case.

My visa was granted within 24 hours of applying. The next day I submitted wife and son’s docs and visa was also granted within 24 hours. All in all my experience in Taipei was phenomenal! I know stipulations could change anytime, but for the time being, I highly recommend the Thai consulate in Taipei.

Just found out I was approved for remote work DTV in Taipei!🎉

@I went on Wednesday and they asked for more documents (I needed my companies license with a government stamp@). Typhoon caused the consulate to be closed on Thursday so we came back to reapply today and it was very simple.

My fiancé applied with soft power and didn’t get approved as his medical papers from Bangkok Hospital we’re not “detailed enough”… even tho he had appointments 6 months out. They gave him a 90 day tourist visa that only cost 1200NTD so worse things could have happened. We are getting married anyways so we will do this and then I will apply with him as my dependent.

Does anyone know if you have to leave Thailand to add a dependent?
