Looking for more information on the DTV visa. From my understanding my US employer does not need to register or change taxes at all with me working in Thailand (up to 180 days in calendar year). My understanding under the DTV Is that the companyny does not need to comply to anything due to the stay being under 180 days. Am I missing something?

Right now the only hiccup for the company i work for to allow me to work in Thailand is they believe they will have tax implications.

If I can prove there is no tax liability on the company, they may agree to it. I’m highly favored there and I believe they will bend if it’s between allowing me to work in Thailand or me quitting.

Any advice? Legal documents/references I can show?

Hey everyone,

Hoping there might be some Canadians around that have experience applying for the OA visa from Canada.

I've received contradictory information as I've been told that when applying one only gets the 90 day Ó visa and then need to set up a bank account etc in Thailand to apply for the one year OA visa. At the same time I've been told that I can get a one year OA visa directly while in Canada without needing the Thai bank account, but will need to have everything set up for the renewal for the second year.

Anyone know which of these is correct and how you found the process?

Thank you!

Just wanted to share some information.

Entered Thailand through Bangkok Airport and filled out DTAC.

A mandatory information is, when and how you leave the country again.

As we with DTV Visa want to be a lil flexibel I asked immigration officer if it is mandatory for DTVs, as we have 6 month to leave and often don't wanna decide immediately...

She said: no problem, just leave it blank.

Not sure technically if blank is possible, as it is marked as mandatory, but I will leave it blank or add dummy and refer in case of further questions to conversation with officer, who advised not to fill out, as I have DTV and provable I am leaving country regularly.

Enjoy ❤️

Asking for some help in how to apply with 2 sources of income from outside of Thailand. I work for a UK based company remotely - this is a zero hour/casual worker contract. However, I have worked for this company since 2023 and the work is ongoing. I can show this through payslips, teaching timetables, etc. I also work on an online teaching platform as a freelance teacher - I don't earn very much, but it shows I have worked with them for the past 2 years with a small top up income. As for savings, I have 20,000 pounds in a UK bank account, which has been there for around 2-3 month. I am a bit worried that my contract is zero hour and casual worker contract - do you think this will be an issue? For my freelance teaching work - does it matter that I don't earn very much from this? Any help would be great. Thanks.

A Bangkok Bank Update (yes, another one)

Background:

Long timer in Thailand. Recent years mostly tourist visas staying on/off in Thailand. Own condos in BKK since 2009 and more recent two condos in Pattaya since 2016 or thereabout.

Am from a Nordic country.

Have had bank account with another major bank but though I would get another one so set up one at Bangkok Bank via an agent about two years ago on a tourist visa.

Kept low balance at the Bangkok Bank but always incoming transfers from another Thai bank in my name. No big money movements.

Went back to the BKK Bank branch in Pattaya as I wanted to update my information (now on DTV visa, digital nomad, issued in my own country).

Had a good conversation with the manager at BKK Bank and they are certainly going through each account as mine was up for review with a high probability of closure.

After updating my info, and showing chanote and purchase contract on one of my condos in Pattaya, my account is now in good standing and will not be closed.

If I did not have property in Pattaya, the manager did not say it flat out, but I could tell my account would be closed. BKK Bank does not recognize the DTV-visa as a long-stay visa since "you can "only" stay max 180 days."

The fact that the visa runs 5-years does not matter to the BKK Bank people.

I am sure much of what I have written here is already known but I wanted to share my first-hand experience and the info given to me.

My strong recommendation is to either go to the BKK Bank branch you opened the account with to update your information if you fall into any of the categories where they will let you maintain your account with the bank even on a tourist visa or move all money out of the account soonest possible.

BKK Bank are actively closing non compliant accounts and there was one guy sitting there told me he just had his account closed.

So just because your account with BKK Bank hasn't been closed as of yet, there is a very big chance it will be. At least according to the BKK Bank manager I talked to.

I hope the above is helpful information for those affected by the same.

Hi I'm thinking of applying for dtv soft power visa. However. I cannot 6 consecutive monthly in Thailand

For professional and personal reasons, I'll have to leave thailand for one month. Would it be a problem if I cannot participate for one month in the classes ? (Thinking of taking the thai culture dtv)

Thanks for adding me!

I’m looking for advice about the easiest, fastest and cheapest way to bring my Thai girlfriend/fiancé into the US?

Neither of us are rich, just in love and want to get married and live a simple happy life together… 🤷‍♂️

Hello 👋

I’m a DTV visa holder, and this is my second time entering Thailand with the DTV.

I would like to know if I need to present supporting documents again, such as bank statements or anything else.

Also, could you please confirm whether Vietnam 🇻🇳 is an acceptable departure country for my second entry with the DTV?
