I read an article saying they are going to continue the 60-day visa exempt. I read another article saying they are reducing it to 30. Bottom line is Thai government stories are almost always conflicting, especially when it comes to immigration. The only sure thing is to wait until policy is actually implemented.
Should not affect tourism either way. Most tourists are here less than 30 days. For those "wintering" in Pattaya, they can get a tourist visa. For those living in Thailand, it is time to figure out whether you want to finally get a visa or move somewhere else.
I have had multiple items shipped from the U.S. to Thailand. Post office leave me a note that I have to go to the pos office to pay customs and VAT. It is usually 37% of the price of the item.
Too much problem . However to to maximize your chances, have a copy of your hotel reservation showing a limited stay, and you return airline ticket. And be very polite to immigration officer.
Last year they changed a lot of the rules, but the number one rule is that it is all subjective in the opinion of the immigration officer. So be very polite and cooperative and you will probably have no problem. If you become at all secretive, uncooperative, or confrontational, you chancds of success go way down
