Instead of DTV I got a Multiple entry tourist visa from Hanoi. I provided 4 months of banks statements with 1mil THB, income of 700K+ in 2025, 6month muy thai course from a reputable gym. I saw a guy (girl?) approved today in Hanoi with a weaker application than mine (1 month course, 3 month bank statements, no income). Make it make sense.

edit: I am going to delete this post in a couple of days since I can see only negative things coming my way. I just made it to vent mainly but also to offer something back to this group.

Hi, I am new to this group.

My wife and I are arriving in Thailand Oct 18 and plan to stay in Hua Hin for 6 months.

The Thai embassy in Canada said I need a non immigrant multiple entry visa good for 6 months, 60 days at a time. Cost of visa $325 Canadian /person.

Any other options or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

huge travel noob here, I'm from the uk, last month i went to thailand for 2 weeks on holiday, i loved it so much im now planning travelling around thailand in 2026 and i want go for around 6 months to a year, i understand that i can go for 60 days with the Tourist Visa Exemption Scheme and then extend for another 30 days, 90 days in total, obviously i want to stay longer than that, so what type of visa should i apply for?, or is it easier to leave thailand for vietnam or somewhere for a certain period and then come back for another 60 + 30 days and if so how long would i have to be in vietnam before i would be allowed back on the Tourist Visa Exemption Scheme?, i have no idea what im doing as you can tell, any help appreciated.

I’m hoping to spend 7 months in Thailand and currently trying to get a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa from Canada right now but they have asked for a detailed account of what I am going to be doing during my stay. So I have asked the KPT Language school if I can pay for a 4 month course ‘Thai for Beginners’ in advance, from Canada. I was going to enrol regardless but I had wanted to do it in Thailand - but that’s fine. My question is: I was relying on applying for a 30 day extension and doing a land border bounce through an agent - after reading many posts, I am worried now. Do you think I will have issues?

Heads up!

my son and his GF have been in and out of thailand on visa exemptions for a year or so ( they do Mauy thai). long story short they came back to Australia to apply for Multiple entry tourist visa. They were approved in 3 days.. Happy - took flights to Phuket yesterday ( with flights out of the country in less then 90 days). They were totally grilled and eventually let in but told they can not return again this year! ( despite the visa being approved for 6 months). They were advised to get a DTV ( but GF under 20).

evidently to do with spending more then 180 days in one year in thailand. just thought i’d let people know.

METV

Hi everyone!

I’ll be landing in Chiang Mai on August 28th, and I’m planning to apply for a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) this Friday, July 25th, through the Royal Thai Consulate in Los Angeles.

I’ve done a ton of research and feel pretty confident about the process, but since I’m handling this entirely on my own, I’d really appreciate any first-hand experiences, especially from those who’ve applied for the METV specifically through the LA consulate.

- How long did your processing take?

- Was your proof of income or financials accepted without issues?

- Any tips on documents or mailing that helped speed things up?

Thanks in advance for any insight!✨

Just a bit confused by visa requirements and a bit of friendly advice would be appreciated, I am the original dinosaur.

I am looking at coming to Thailand towards the end of October and staying until some time in April.

I think that the 6 month tourist, Multiple Entry is probably the Visa I require?

My main issue with this is, it looks like you need to leave the country every 60 days, so I would need to do a border run twice to be able to stay for the nearly 6 months, is this correct?

If there is a better visa, or way of doing it, your advice would be appreciated.

Have a good day x

Hi I am here on a multiple entry tourist visa valid for 6 months starting 2nd June. I am going to Laos via the friendship bridge for a week and was wondering if I need to apply for a re entry permit at the border.

Thanks
