800,000 in the bank for at least three months. I find this easy enough, just have to update bank book, far less paper work.

If you have Thai friend in which he or she can give the bank an perminate address, then should be no problem. the friend will recieve your statments thats all

I use a dongle, that i purchased years ago here in Thailand, i use it with a sim that i bought at Big C, it cost's me 89 baht a month. though it is a little slow. This is with my laptop buy the way.
