TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around the costs and options for removable dentures in Thailand. Users share various experiences and prices for dental work, with costs for implants and dentures significantly lower than in Western countries. Recommendations include clinics like 'Global Dental Complex' in Bangkok and 'Kôruṇa Satya Poorun' in Pattaya, where full denture sets can range from 28,000 to 115,000 baht. Participants highlight the wage differences that make dental work more affordable in Thailand, as well as the various types of dentures and implants available.

Ask in government hospitals. Most have a dentistry department and they are less expensive, compared to the pure detal clinics.

HIGHLY recommended for Implants is the “Dental World” clinic in Chaing Mai. I started having my dental work done there back in 2012 and just 2 days ago (1st April 2024) I had a 3 tooth / 2 Post Bridge assembly completed in my top front jaw.

Prior to this I have had 5 individual teeth replaced by 5 individual Implant teeth + 5 Crown “artificial” teeth (made out of Zirconium).

To save on travel costs to Chiang Mai firstly get your rotten teeth extracted “anywhere” and then wait 2 months (for your gum to heal) before you attend DW. If healing is ok then an Implant Post can be fitted. This then requires a minimum time period of 6 months for this Implant Post to become “firmly fixed” in your gum (via your natural healing process) before the 2nd final step of having your single Crown or (as I have just had done) a Bridge assembly fitted. This 2nd step required me to stay here in CM for about 10 days (but you probably could ask for 7 days?) to allow the Dentist to first get a Silicon Impression of your existing teeth to be done and this is then sent to a Dental Lab here in CM where they will make a single Crown (or a Bridge assembly) to enable a “perfect fit” to be accomplished. Then you will need to wait another
***
days to allow the Dentist to “check that everything is ok and to your satisfaction”.

This 2nd step for my 3 tooth / supported by 2 Implant Posts cost exactly 72,000 baht. Prior to coming to Thailand back in the UK my Dentist there quoted me £3,200 for this Bridge (144,000 baht).

The 1st step (done back on my last visit to CM in December 2022) consisted of removing 2 adjacent teeth (next to where I had 1 tooth previously extracted). Then 2 Posts were implanted. The 2nd Post was fitted where a tooth had JUST PREVIOUSLY been extracted and Dr Surasak then used my own blood to “make up” my own “tailor made gum healing “compound. This was done on my “trusted Dentists (Dr Surasak) recommendation” because “they were slightly loose” and would probably fail relatively quickly.

This Dental Surgeon is the owner of this FANTASTIC Dental facility here in CM (located on the SE corner of The Moat roadway). This first step cost me about £1,000 (about 45,000 baht) for 2 Posts to be Implanted.

So, for Steps 1 + 2 above, the total cost at DW = about 117,000 baht (£2,600).

In the UK you can say that “roughly” EACH Implanted Tooth (including Steps 1 + 2) will cost you about £2,000 (90,000 baht) PER TOOTH.

At DW EACH Implanted tooth will cost LESS THAN 50% for the same work BUT I KNOW in the UK my Dentist simply cannot match the SUPERB facilities at DW or their FANTASTIC staff.

****************************

Highly Recommended for Step 1 then ask for Dr Surasak (the Owner of this large Clinic to do this for you). He is a remarkable Dentist.

Dr Lapon done the Bridge assembly work for me as he is now DW’s specialist for this Step 2 work.

A special accolade here for DW’s superb lady Dental Assistants AND their many (about 12) Receptionists. They are all FANTASTIC.

DW has over 20 dentists who share the use of the 15 Dental Rooms at this superb Clinic Building, ie. It is ultra modern.

So does it sound too expensive at
*****
baht per implant when she's needing 4

2 upper 2 lower..

Thanks
Sharn *************
All on 4 is very expensive. The price is set for all countries so you basically pay the same no matter where you go.

The next best option is a full denture that clips onto 2 pins that are screwed into your gum.

Top is about $8000 in Australia and same for bottom.

The main part of the cost is the 2 titanium pins which are expensive.

But it allows you to take the denture in or out at will.

And i have heard that this system has no fixed price so can be quite affordable in Thailand.

Just make sure you get a very professional dentist who checks your gums to make sure the pins will be firm and secure and that everything is a perfect comfortable fit .
John ***********
@Sharn ************
The materials cost much the same, but the labour and caps would be significantly less in the cheaper countries. You've also got to check that inferior materials are not being used. But the information about the fixed dentures is useful. Can anyone attest that the pins work at holding the lower denture?
Glen ********
@John **********
I’ve got 2 implants in my lower jaw to hold the full denture. Had them for over 20 years. They do a brilliant job.
John ***********
@Glen *******
I imagine you have good bone with only 2 implants. The 34K Australian for all on 4 sounds about what you'd pay in Australia.
Glen ********
@John **********
Actually I have a very narrow lower jaw and they were unsure so they did X-rays and could just get them in. Our bodies don’t recognise titanium as foreign and the implants fuse with the bone. Having said all that I wouldn’t want to get punched in the jaw.
Sharn *************
@John **********
I have friends that have them .

Im getting the same in a few months .

I cannot justify 34k aud for all on 4 just for a bottom set .

@Rod *********
Rayong, I would assume has good health care professionals, being so close to Chonburi.

The cost sounds reasonable especially as compared to the US.

My Thai wife prefers all her dental work done in Thailand.

I prefer all mine done in the US, although I have had about 6 dental related visits in Thailand over the last 30 years, all with good results.

If my wife needed that, I would be happy to agree to get it done. Dental health is important. Hope this sound advice helps you.

I have a top denture that, as a previous commenter stated, is ok to manage and I generally forget is a denture… I had a loose lower denture that made me feel suicidal. Your quality of life and enjoyment eating are severely reduced. Later I had implants put in my lower jaw to secure the lower denture and have never been happier. It’s a good middle ground to have a normal upper and implants to secure the lower. You can always have implants in the top jaw later when funds allow
Tony ******
I had 4 implants done yesterday in Pattaya. They we placed where teeth had been missing for many years on bottom jaw. Took 3.5 hours in chair. Cost 115,000 baht.

The dentist is a specialist in doing implants.

I did not get all on four as front bottom teeth are OK.

I need 4 on the top jaw but i need a sinus lift. So will have to wait 3 months for bottoms to fuse to jaw bone.

I Had one done in Australia and it cost me AU$7000.

So yes, Pattaya is very cheap and good quality work.

David ********
@Richard **********
why did they have to remove teeth if the problem was your heart ?
Ken **********
Richard ***********
@David *******
because the veins go straight down to the valves in the heart and if you have any teeth that are not 100% you can easily get endocarditis, which is an infection of the lining of the heart, typically the heart valves.

They have a tier list of prices, the first tooth should be way less than 10,000 Baht and every following tooth should be less than a 1000 Baht but definitely less than implants. That should includes everything with metal frames, excluding extraction of teeth.

oh wow, you're so smart Frank, thanks so much I didn't notice that. Since you're so smart you probably know that the dollar sign is commonly used to express several different currencies. Here's a list, smart guy:

United States Dollar (USD): The currency of the United States of America.

Canadian Dollar (CAD): The currency of Canada.

Australian Dollar (AUD): The currency of Australia.

New Zealand Dollar (NZD): The currency of New Zealand.

Singapore Dollar (SGD): The currency of Singapore.

Hong Kong Dollar (HKD): The currency of Hong Kong.

Taiwan Dollar (TWD): The currency of Taiwan, though it's officially known as the New Taiwan Dollar.

Fiji Dollar (FJD): The currency of Fiji.

Eastern Caribbean Dollar (XCD): The currency used by several countries in the Eastern Caribbean.

Bahamian Dollar (BSD): The currency of the Bahamas.

Barbadian Dollar (BBD): The currency of Barbados.

Belize Dollar (BZD): The currency of Belize.

Bermudian Dollar (BMD): The currency of Bermuda.

Jamaican Dollar (JMD): The currency of Jamaica.

Namibian Dollar (NAD): The currency of Namibia.

Trinidad and Tobago Dollar (TTD): The currency of Trinidad and Tobago.

Zimbabwean Dollar (ZWL): The currency of Zimbabwe, though it has undergone significant changes and revaluations.

You should go back to Huddersfield and ask for your money back.

Huge price difference. I don't have dentures, but have researched them, and top dentures tend to sit quite happily in the roof of your mouth and are not that difficult to negotiate, whereas lower dentures are a different story altogether. Those with direct experience may however have a different tale to tell.
