TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around difficulties in confirming a phone number to use Wise for sending money to Thailand from the UK. Many users share their positive experiences with Wise once the account setup is complete, emphasizing its convenience and speed. However, alternatives such as Western Union and Revolut are also mentioned, with some users advising against them due to risk factors or higher fees. Tips for resolving verification issues with Wise and other transfer methods like Moneygram and bank options are also discussed.

Thank you all for your comments, I've finally got Wise to work for me, so I'll stick with it for now. Though if it does play me up at least now I can see other options.

You can’t temporarily install your Uk sim get the verification sms? I had to do that today with my dutch sim. In any case Wise is the beat option. Alternatively use your own bank, but takes longer.

Wise works well,once perfected.

If you have Wise account already set up.. should not be a problem... can you provide more details? Wise is the way to go!

WU, Revolut, Wise, . .
James *******
Join topcashback.co.uk (£15 on your first transfer ) and then go from there to moneygram. Moneygram is easy to use and offers the best rate. Check on wise's comparison tool and they also agree.

Same with me worried about the comments about Wise on here but never had a problem.

Western Union is great . And they only charge me 0.99 cent Aud to send 2000 dollars to Thai account and it's in there within 20 seconds of me pressing enter

@Tony ********
ok, not good rate but if you are willing to pay for the convenience

With cash exchanged at superrich you get 23.30. Similar with wise i would assume.

@Tore *****************
but what's the fee with wise and superich
Tore *********
@Tony ********
superrich has no fee on top of the exchange rate. Last swap i did with wise i paid 7 eur to exchange 1100 eur to baht
Tore *********
@Tony ********
But whats the exchange rate?

@Tore *****************
this is just now

Western Union is simple to set up and use with their app and it works well. I gave up on Wise..

The transaction fees and exchange rate of WU are crazy … not suitable for large and regular transfers. Ok for ad- hoc one -off transfer and even then Ria is much cheaper and on same principle.
Bob *********
@Rok *******
I only send occasional transfers and when I compare like for like the transfer fee is much lower on wu though the exchange rate is also a little lower. The difference to me is not worth worrying about.

@Rok *******
wrong - it depends on which one of the four different methods you choose for a WU transfer. . . . If you pick on the same method as WISE, which is a bank account to bank account transfer, a transfer of 1000.- USD gives you an only marginally less result, maybe a difference of 80 cents! You can check and compare - you will be surprised

@Bob ********
I also gave up on wise . It couldn't verify my phone number and then says I has an existing account but I didn't

@Tony ********
You should be able to telephone wise or message them and sort it out. Wise is the best way to transfer money to thailand
Steve *******
Revolut 👍

@Steve ******
Revolut too risky, too many reports on frozen funds. Best stick to Wise (also better rates)

@Tore *****************
- I disagree. The rate / cost is cheaper for me with revolut. I also have wise with card.

I’m only going by my own experiences. I have also used western union. Just gives me various options to transfer into my Thai account.

@Steve ******
they screwed me over for 18 months till I threatened the ombudsman. Suddenly they returned my money.

@Owen *******
- I have used them for a couple of years now and I have not had an issue. Maybe just lucky?

Money is usually takes a few minutes to reach my Thai account.
Tyler *******
I never had any issues with it. But it’s great once everything is set up. It takes only a few mins to send money to Thailand (I use KBank).
Noel **********
Yes I agree. I almost gave up on Wise because of the various verification challenges. Stick with it, because once completed, it’s great.

Persist with Wise, once sorted it's so easy and convenient.
