They want your money because they think they are entitled to it because they know how to spend it better than you do.

The paperwork process, just to open an account, for foreigners is about an hour long due to Thai and international regulatory requirements.

Then, there are additional ongoing reporting and compliance costs.

No for profit business is going to commit those necessary resources for a begpacker with ฿300 and a 60 day visa absent some other incentive(s).

It’s just not profitable.
