I’m returning to Thailand within the next 30 days, after living there for 14 months on a retirement visa and covid extensions. I’ve been home for a month.
I was unable to extend the embassy purchased OA retirement visa because I was unable to secure health insurance, with any of the 14 approved Thai companies, at any price due to pre-existing health conditions.
I’m advised to return visa exempt, or on a tourist visa and then apply for an extension of stay, based on retirement with no insurance requirements (currently).
My ฿800k is already in the bank and seasoned.
Is there anything I am missing?
TLDR : Answer Summary

They are considering entering on a visa-exempt or tourist visa, then applying for a Non-O visa and later a year extension. The user has ฿800k in the bank, which is necessary for the retirement visa.
