What is the best way to return to Thailand and secure a retirement visa without health insurance?

I’m returning to Thailand within the next 30 days, after living there for 14 months on a retirement visa and covid extensions. I’ve been home for a month.

I was unable to extend the embassy purchased OA retirement visa because I was unable to secure health insurance, with any of the 14 approved Thai companies, at any price due to pre-existing health conditions.

I’m advised to return visa exempt, or on a tourist visa and then apply for an extension of stay, based on retirement with no insurance requirements (currently).

My ฿800k is already in the bank and seasoned.

Is there anything I am missing?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user plans to return to Thailand after living there on a retirement visa and facing health insurance issues. They are considering entering on a visa-exempt or tourist visa, then applying for a Non-O visa and later a year extension. The user has ฿800k in the bank, which is necessary for the retirement visa. Comments suggest applying for a Non-O visa shortly after entry, with specific timelines and procedures outlined for immigration.

Do you still have proof that the 800K was a foreign transfer?

… would they request that on a pre-existing account?

@Tim *******
Absolutely. A foreign transfer is required for an in-country non O visa. It doesn’t matter how old the account is or when the transfer was made.

… since my original application, they have not mentioned it in five years. I believe they only check initial submission.

Yes. Only for the visa. Not for an extension. Different requirements.

Yes, I can go into my US bank, Wyse and Kasikorn and pull the statements.

you shouldn't have any issues then at all applying for the in country 90 day Non-O and then the year after that 🙂

You are leaving a few steps out

If you're comin' in on a visa exempt or tourist visa entry you FIRST apply for a 90 day Non-O visa and then once that runs down you apply for a year extension

You need a minimum of 15 days at most immigration offices to apply for the in country Non-O visa (Chiang Mai requires 21 days).

You apply for the Non-O for 2000baht it goes under review for 2 weeks then go back and get the Non-O visa and a new 90 day stamp inked in.

When you have 30 days or less left on that 90 day stamp you get the documents together and apply for the year extension for 1900baht
