You should be fine with the SETV...if not you get 2 land border crossings per calendar year (Jan - Dec)...just go prepared with all your paperwork and have your confirmation appointment slip

If your friend has not received a 30 day extension she she could go to her local immigration office pay ฿1,900 for a 30 day extension and not leave Thailand

If you qualify you can travel to Perth Australia to the Royal thai consulate and apply for the 6 month METV visa with Out/In visa runs and extensions you can get 9 months out of a 6 month visa...

First off make an appointment for the visa...as last I heard they do not do walk up service anymore...agency are helpful but only if you have an appt but they might be able to backdoor the system by making appointments for individuals then saying they never arrived...
