Hey 💞 I have a question about visa, I’ve read through the previous posts and online but just wanted to check if anyone had any extra info.

As I’m an Irish National I have read that I can get a 30 day visa then extend 30 days and then do two land border runs then go to Laos to get another 3 month (I hope I got that right) but I just wanted to ask if anyone knows about the volunteer /ED visa - I plan to volunteer in Pai with Burmese migrant workers and would also like to learn Thai as a student.

Can I apply for this while in Thailand?

Does anyone know of a visa company ghat could help me with that?

I’m going insane sending emails to various embassies and they’re referring me to each other (I’m living in Saigon, Vietnam) and can’t get a tourist visa done here for Thailand 🤨😫 and haven’t lived in ireland for over two years so am a little bit confused about how to go about this and I hope to stay in Thailand for a minimum of 6 months.

Any info would be really appreciated 💞💞💞

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Irish national is inquiring about visa options to stay in Thailand for at least 6 months while planning to volunteer and learn Thai. They initially considered a 30-day visa followed by extensions and land border runs but are facing difficulties with the tourist visa application due to their current residency in Vietnam and prior entries into Thailand. The responses suggest exploring the options for a Non-O or Non-ED visa, emphasizing the need for documentation from the volunteering organization or enrolling in a language school after arriving in Thailand.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.

As far as the "i wanna volunteer or learn thai blah-blah-blah" GET here, then do some research into places to volunteer at that could give you the correct documents to go get a Non-O visa for volunteering OR go to a thai language school and see about enrolling to get an Non-ED visa.

If you qualify you can travel to Perth Australia to the Royal thai consulate and apply for the 6 month METV visa with Out/In visa runs and extensions you can get 9 months out of a 6 month visa...

okay, you're a little off the mark. There is no such thing as a 30 day visa. If you enter thailand and get stamped in for 30 days for free without having bought a visa from a thai consulate before you came here you get in on what's known as a 30 day visa exempt entry

You can get TWO 30 day visa exempt entry by land in a calendar year.

There is no official limit to them entering by air but you aren't gonna live here by 30 day visa exempt entries.

You can GO to a thai consulate in another country and BUY a single entry tourist visa, but due to your entry history you might have problems finding a consulate that will sell you one as they are trying to stop people from living here on tourist visas/visa exempt entries.

If you can get to Australia, you can apply for the multiple entry tv, that gives you the time in country you are looking for and since you will be near Burma you can eadily do the border hops necessary every 60 days.

Frankly speaking I do not think you will get a Tourist Visa in either Laos Thai Consulates due to your prior visa exempt entries, extensions and land border crossings with extensions. Times are changing. Best you rethink your visa options to Thailand.
