I’ve never used one but my understanding is that it’s basically a ticket that you pay a small fee for that the vendor and yourself understand will never be used

Yeah, that is fine. I don't remember the exact length of time that was detailed as acceptable but I remember that it was definitely more than 4 hours. 12 perhaps.
