TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers on whether AXA offers the best-priced insurance for $50,000 coverage needed for the Thailand Pass. While some users praise AXA for its reliability, good support, and acceptance by the Thai Embassy, others mention it may not be the cheapest option. Comparisons are made with other insurers like Tune and Safety Wing, indicating varying premiums and coverage. Users also note that the insurance landscape can vary significantly for expats vs. locals, highlighting dual pricing issues in Thailand and the importance of having insurance tailored for the Thai context. Recommendations for agents who help expedite the insurance process are provided.

I'm able to use my health plan. BCBS basic. It's good world wide. All I had to do was call the plan and tell them you need a letter showing your covered for over $100,000.I was connected with an overseas agent in my plan they sent mr a great letter that was accepted by the N.Y. Thai embassy. I wasn't about too pay twice for coverage when my plan was good worldwide. Hope this helps!

Sorry I cannot answer the question but would offer a suggestion. I've been reading these Thailand groups for about a year now (have been back once and will return soon). The one thing I have come to believe is to buy my insurance from a person and not a company. Robert Jackson is an agent for AXA who has been very active in groups and helped a lot of people. Arawan Namak is an agent for many companies and has been noted for being helpful. I would look for an agent and describe my situation and expect them ask more questions and then offer suggestions. You do not pay more when using an agent.

I still wonder which insurence covers situation like this: my 1 year old son tests positive for covid and has to go to hospital. Of course, I will go with to accompany him, but I am not covid positive. Is there any insurance that would cover my stay in hospital?

Every price is going to be different due to age difference and medical conditions . 🥴
I chose ACS, got an annual policy for €uro511. I am 66yrs old.

One word of warning with AXA thailand it is only valid for one entry, sounds stupid i know especially if you take a years policy but was previously discussed and someone posted the link.
The thing I don't understand about this insurance scam is why all prices for everybody are the same? I would expect a person with no vaccine would pay more than a person vaccinated. And the type of vaccine should be a factor along with age. Everybody - the same price.

For covid insurance with min. $50k, lot of people go with AXA which is a great choice and value for money with hassle-free. It covers any COVID-19 related costs for at least USD 50k even when asymptomatic. You don’t need to pay up front when get admitted to hospital. You can check price and buy it online here➡️
So Thais are paying 500 baht for 1 years cover and westerners are getting ripped off as usual!

Jared jernegan Give me one example? Dual pricing is outlawed in the USA, that would be discrimination and you could sue the discriminator. Also, having one price for one race and another price for another race, could be construed as a rascist offence and wouldn't be looked at kindly anywhere in the US. No way! Maybe with a coupon. For insurance, you wouldn't be in business for a month in the U S.
you’re free to use any inusrance. Why pick a Thai one? Just need the written statement that the insurance covers a sum of at least 50k USD for Covid.
i have someone visiting who has an anual travel insurance and requested a dedicated letter stating this. Tailandpass came within seconds. Price a few EUR annually
When the requirements for covid insurance first started in Thailand, the Thai immigration began questioning policies that had not been purchased through a Thai company. Rather than any hassle on arrival, its easier just to purchase the policy through Thailand!
Yes, its a available to non thais at 30,000 baht per annum. Been living in Thailand for sometime and I know when I am paying through the nose for products!

Well that's with everything! Thais always will pay a different price then you. Welcome to amazing Thailand. Insurance is just a new game,( taught to them by westerners). It wasn't required two years ago.
there are examples of dual pricing in the USA, even against other USA nationals. This isn’t anything unique to thailand.

So I priced out insurance at AXA for 69 days and it came to 6200 THB. So far that is the most expensive of three quotes. And its not even close actually. Given the number of people that recommend and use AXA, I am somewhat suspect that I did something incorrectly or that there is an anomaly ATM on their site perhaps?
As an example Tune was 7500 for an entire year and Safety Wing was 5057 THB for coverage that includes several other benefits in addition to the COVID coverage.

You have to go to your provider, ( health care provider), that is where you got vaccinated. Example would be cvs, walgreens, your doctor... Make an account online with your provider. All your medical info will be in your private health care provider, not public, not federal but your private health care provider as described. In your medical information that is kept private you can access what medicines including vaccinations. There is where most providers give you the qr code. Most won't make an online account and thus have no idea where the qr code presides.
WTF are you talking about? Do you even know how to Facebook? You keep replying to me but you’re not actually replying to the thread you’re referring to so I have no worldly idea what you’re even talking about

I never said there was a federal system for vac.s. But any reputable place giving the vaccine will supply a qr code. You have to go to your provider and get it from your portal. The US won't have a federal data base partially because of HIPAA. Your health care is a private matter in the usa. But you DID find the qr code didn't ya?
“Here in the US everyone has a QR code for vacs” is untrue. States that have a digital database or QR code do have that. Some limited clinics may provide you a website (QR) where you can view your vaccination but I’ve never seen that.
I’m not sure what you were trying to say but the way you phrased that would certainly suggest that the US has a QR system (digital database).
The US does not have a federal digital database (QR code) system and never will. At least not a mandatory one. Some states have a digital system but many do not.
As to your second point and question, yes you can go Visa exempt but, you still need a Thailand Pass and that is the point at which you are required to submit proof of vaccination
my first TP application was rejected in 4 hours & stated it didn't cover me for $50k US Covid-19. It actually stated $250k Singapore Dollars (around 180k USD), but they needed it written in USD.
Everyone has a QR code for vaccines? Not in my neck of the woods, and that means millions only have the paper record card, no digital record. Some sort of third-party vaccine passport is coming soon apparently.
AXA is Thai insurance and will cover hospitalization for asymptomatic positive cases (as far as I know), whereas international insurance such as Safety Wing won't. That's the benefit of a Thai insurance policy, whether it's AXA or not. Whatever you decide, just confirm with them first that they'll cover for asymptomatic hospitalization in case you test positive, or else it will become very, very expensive.
I got my TP in about 30 seconds and my visa in less then two days with axa, maybe not the cheapest but you save money on anxiety medication from the posts I have read.
most of the TP anxiety comes the most of the US not having a QR code on the vaccine passports and therefore impossible to receive automated approval and needed to be manually approved.
I’ve only seen 1-2 posts about visa/TP denial from insurance, and even then it was usually user error. As stated my company gave me a specific thailand cover letter and I had no issues.
I did the stv last week . No question on the application for insurance but I got asked for extra information. proof of insurance was required with same level of cover as the TP.
I think many people simply do not bother to look or know what the options and costs are, I paid $190 for 5 months of coverage that came with a Thailand specific visa cover letter so I had no issues with visa or TP
Arawan namak sells many , I went with ASC 36 euro for a month. She can be contacted on FB. She sells Luma, AXA and most of the others . She will get u what u need very efficient
It does the job at $65/ Month there about, it’s accepted by the Thai Embassy....And they have a good LINE SUPPORT (attached is there LINE ID) that’s get back to you within an hour or less
