TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, the Thai government has extended the COVID visa extension until May 24th. Some users expressed concern about missed opportunities for extensions, sharing experiences with immigration where last-minute changes were communicated after they had already traveled. It was advised to apply for the extension close to the deadline to gain maximum time. Additionally, there was a discussion about policies and experiences related to obtaining the COVID extension and navigating immigration processes.

the COVID extension gives 60 days effective the date of approval.

It’s not 60 days added.

In other words, it’s been approved till May 23rd so, I’m your case, you should wait till the last day to apply (May 23).

That would approve you till July 22 about.

I think that’s only for the first extension — in my case, they treated my first extension in January as if they were converting my tourist visa to something new, so the sixty days started from that conversion/application date. But when I went back for another extension last week, they treated it as a 60-day extension from my new expiration date, so there was no need to wait until the last minute.

This is BS. I flew out on the 23rd because I was told on the on the 22nd at immigration that there would be no more extensions.

unfortunately flights directly to Phuket have to be done from Singapore. The lowest cost flight I found was $635 US. I'm thinking I'm just going to chance going into Bangkok.

I have been yelled at by supervisors at immigration. Once at BKK. My recommendation, be very respectful, don't get an attitude.. "Thank you for let me come your beautify country". " I don't live here but I like it here so much". " I hope I can find nice Thai wife".. Just be respectful. You will probably be fine.

I get yelled at, twice. Once at BKK airport and once at the Lao border. Both times it was because I had goofy paperwork.

BKK, I had a 90 day Non-B visa, I think, I left for India and gotten a reentry permit. Not so strange but usually people extend their non-b for a year, and I had not. Its off-topic conversation but basically the original IO thought my paperwork looked strange.

Lao border, I went cross the border had lunch and came back. I did not use an agent. When coming back through to thailand I didn't know if I need photo copies or other paper work. I ask the photo copy person and they told me go ask in the office. The office walked me out to the supervisor, and they yelled at me. Kinda nice though, I didn't have to wait in line to get my stamp.

I was approved for the Thailand testing going pick up my tourist visa tomorrow from the embassy. It seems like I have everything in order and I hope I don't get yelled at. As long they let me in I'll be happy.

I probably won't say I'm looking for a wife part. Guy will get pissed at another foreigner trying to take away Thai women. Besides I have yet to find someone who I find truly attractive in Thailand believe it or not.

Both times the supervisor talked to me, they both suggested I get a marriage visa. One supervisor was male the other female. I am suggesting you tell them are looking for a mail order bride, just that you are a decent guy looking to maybe settle down.

I am still unmarried- you don't have to get married.

I had a friend leave last year and he was at the airport when I told him it's just been announced its been extended. If there was more notice people could plan better.

I had no idea as I never had a c19 extension before. This was my first one ever and they literally told me at immigration that there's no more extensions. I don't know how things work here Thailand.
