We recently went to Chiang Mai immigration to register change of address (Promenada upstairs). Although the landlord stated that a TM30 had been submitted that same day, they could not find a record of the landlord at all ( foreigner who had not completed a TM28 ever)! Having paid 1600Thb on behalf of the landlord (deducted from the rent) we answered a few questions and she issued a TM30 to us. We had a copy of the landlord's passport and title for the condo with us fortunately. Our thanks to this group for the suggestion.
We asked about the TM28 as we are the tenants and was told that it is a lot of paperwork which we would have to carry with the passport. A stamp on the TM30 receipt is sufficient and that we only need to register a change if we leave the country and return or move to a new apartment. Touring Thailand does not count and when returning they put a new stamp on the TM30 receipt. All new to us but possibly old hat to the group.
Next time we move we'll do the TM30 ourselves to make sure it is done and that we notify at the same time.
