What kind of visa does she have? Does she have a work permit?

If she has neither, and gets caught out; 15% tax will be the least of her troubles...

@Andrea *******
Did you show the immigration officer a print out copy of your visa? Was it an Evisa? Please post a photo of your stamp.

Reckon also you didn't look at the stamp while still there unfortunately; as that was the time to clear it up and correct this.

Seems like you were stamped in for a 45 day visa exempt if me maths is correct. šŸ™ƒ

Until the visa validity date, you can leave and re-enter using the visa by showing the print out.

You might possibly be able to correct this at Chaengwattana office if you get a sympathetic officer...

YMMV

Do understand that any "village" wedding ceremony is not an official marriage for visa purposes, you'll need to register with your local Amphur, as legal marriage in Thailand consists of two parties registering their union with a local Amphur (Thai district office, similar to a county office). It is a process that can take several days to complete.

Congratulations & Good Luck !

For what it's worth:

common sense dictates you get an English & Thai language prenuptial agreement with a lawyer, mate.

It's a good idea to set up a will, too -- especially if you have children or others in your home country you'd like to be beneficiaries.

Then you contact the Thai embassy in a neighboring country with your home country.

You can try to clear the ban through the Royal Thai Embassy in your home country.

The fine here will be 20,000 baht in cash.

Get a receipt.

You will be ok if you go to the airport soon with an air ticket home and the cash for the fine.

Don't worry, be happy.

Now, just worry about getting arrested before you get to the airport.

Pack everything you want to take home. You must have an air ticket back to the country of your citizenship.

Go to the airport, apologize to immigration officers, pay the fine, apologize many times. Be very polite. Do not be pushy, be contrite.

See what immigration officers say.

Do not wait, do not get caught by the police before you get to the airport. You will be arrested and put in immigration detention jail.

You can negotiate with the Royal Thai Embassy in your home country.

Please be careful,

Get on the airplane, sit back, relax and enjoy the flight.

Good luck.

Never mind. Mai pen rai.
