I have a new passport now, with a new passport number. I have already updated my TM30 with the new passport. Previously I have done my 90 day reports by post and now want to start doing them online. Will I also need to do my next one ( with the new passport number) in person, to get into the system

I wonder if she thought that you wanted to learn Muay Thai or Hand to Hand combat which people often do as part of an ed visa. Perhaps she was giving you advice based on that assumption. Wheras of course you can attend a gym while you're on a "retirement" visa and would probably pay less for the privilege of doing so compared with those looking to get an ed visa based on this. Sounds like you want a non immigrant multiple entry OA visa which of course you can get in your own country before you come here or a multiple entry tourist visa as described in the comment above

It's a ahame because the other visa group used to be held in high regard and could be relied upon to give accurate and up to date visa advise. I no longer reccommend anyone ask a question in that group, as so often people posting a question are ridiculed, belittled and humiliated for innocently asking a newbie question. I'm really surprised that other admins in that group have allowed their group to be hijacked and destroyed by one particularly obnoxious admin with zero people skills or diplomacy. It's refreshing to come to this group and see the patient and supportive responses from admins here

In Chiang Mai the tenant was being charged 1600 baht fine for not having a TM30 or not updating it upon returning from being out of the country. Yes, it was the landlord's responsibility, but it was easier for the immigration officer to fine the farang in front of them than pursue the landlord. It has pretty much been a case of "if you want the visa/extension, and you don't have an updated TM30, you pay the fine

not sure about that. My Australian debit card has a visa chip, not sure if that helps, but drawing money out over the counter is not using the credit function as far as I know. I used this method for almost 2yrs and didn't experience any hidden charges
