You can enter most banks and withdraw cash from your overseas debit card with just your card and your passport. This way you avoid atm fees. I have done this at Bangkok Bank at Airport Plaza, Pathip Plaza and Tesco Kamthieng and at Kasikorn Bank in Nimman and Promenada

Garrett Greenwald exactly, while bringing the equivalent of 65K baht into the country monthly, remains an option for fulfilling the requirements of getting a "retirement" visa or extension, I would prefer to have the bulk of my money working for me in my own country

Do you also need copies of all the pages in your bank book too? Or bank issued statements that show this?

Given that this is a fairly new change, (January 2019), for meeting the requirements of getting a non immigrant O visa based on being over 50, and extensions of same, I think it is important to share this information, especially as no-one has yet tried to get such a visa or an extension, using the 65K baht per month transfered from outside Thailand into a Thai Bank account. It is extremely important for those using this method to get up to date information and to be aware of the pitfalls. If you have chosen to use the 800K banked in a Thai bank, option or you have a non immigrant OA, just scroll past, as I do when I see posts concerning work visas, marriage visas, volunteer visas or visas for those visiting Thai children. Please don't deny others who need this information
