I just went in August, maybe it was just luck but no one ask to see return ticket, walked right thru immigration with no issues, got to customs and red section was closed so I just walked thru the other section. I'm headed back around Feb for 6 months

I'm doing the same thing, there's 2 ways to do it I'm getting from the legal folks.

1). Get the non immigration O visa (must have flight ticket and accommodation ), other than the timing that's easy (flight and hotel).

Land, set up bank account. Then fairly quickly get a rental w/ contract.

Then shortly after apply for yearly retirement visa.

2). A law firm said come on normal visa, for approx 1,400 usd they will handle everything once I arrive.

I'm still deciding which way to go, although 2 gives me more time to find the right rental with no rush.

Me too, I've just about decided to come on regular passport then hire legal people to handle it

me too, but get different seneros from them. With the language barriers and verbiage I think it's better to pay someone who knows both , kind of a learning curve until I understand better do I won't make mistakes.

My biggest concern is the time frame of things needed in basically a few week after getting visa.

I have to rush to rent a place etc..

thx, got to get health ins anyway, no worries with the background although I don't really want to go through, but both law firms told me there is no longer a health check or a background check for the visa I'm looking at.
