All depends on if you´re on the Governmental grid (PEA, MEA) or not. If not you are out of luck. On the «grid»: 30+sqm, 2 A/c´s, 2 adults, some minor cooking, hot water and all that, max. B1.500,-. Water between B 200-360.
You don’t need a new visa, just go for a small holiday, Angkor Wat is almost a must! f.ex, or Penang. When you re-enter you get a 60day visa excempt stamp for free. This can later be extended for another 30 days for Baht 1.900,
wrong. It´s the airline which is the problem. On my last flight here from Europe with Thai, everyone who did not have a visa had to show onward tickets. Has nothing to do with the embassy.
As has allready been stated: no visa required, but your airline might ask to see a return/onward ticket within 60 days before they let you board. But you are on holiday, right? Book a ticket beforehand to a place outside Th, airfare is cheap here! F.ex fly to Siem Reap and spend a couple of days in a pool and exploring fantastic Angkor Wat. When you return from your holiday away from vacation you will receive another 60 days visa-excempt. Good luck!
I hear what you are saying, can see your point but still think you are wrong. The rules of Thailand are what they are and as guests we should abide by them. The rule about TM30-reporting is a responsibility the Thai people renting rooms/condos/hotels etc. to foreigners have. So, if its a problem add another 100 Baht to the room-price. It is not the responsibility and never has been, of the person renting the room.
cambodia expensive? I always wonder when I read statements like this: Did we visit the same country? My wife and I stayed earlier this year in Siem Reap for 5 days, stayed at a lovely hotel with pool, restaurant bar + pool-bar, in Bangkok it would have been not less than Baht 2.000, p.n. We paid B 750, and as we both prefer trying out the local cuisine from markets, food-stalls, momandpop shops etc. and with the flight BKK-SR/r at only B4.000,- for the 2 of us it ended up same or less than 5 days in BKK with a great little holiday thrown in.
You must be from the US? Well, «Everybody» do not need passports to cross borders. You do, other countries do not so get off your high horse pardner. No offense meant.
I did this for years in Thailand: foreign films/commercials/TV but always with a pro Thai team. You wil always need a «fixer», driver(s), maybe sometimes doing the books, etc. Even if you are normally a one-man-team for most locations you will need a permission etc. etc. I am retired but can point you in the right direction. To a company or persons who have International experience. They will also help you with visa and permissions. Good luck, I miss the business but not getting up in the dark day after day, month after month. Just DM me.
