Hi we will be arriving into Thailand in a few weeks. We are UK Citizens and have been travelling Indonesia so we will be entering on the 30 day visa free entry. We would like to look into applying for a retirement visa but are so confused on which one to apply for. We are both over 50 not drawing on a pension yet but do have enough savings in the bank. Any help will be greatly appreciated. šŸ˜€

My conversation with Benjamin Hays on acquiring an "out of Thailand visa" at Argentina (US passport/Argentina residency) was paused until today. Visited the Thai Embassy Argentina and they require a US Passport holder to apply in the US for visa, regardless of having Argentina residency. So, avoiding a return to US, have the goal of living Thailand long term and going through the in country hoops to do so. Starting with entering on a 'Thai Pass', would appreciate advice on a scheme of the necessaries to make extensions and conversions to reach a Non Immigrant Visa, as a retired person. Am prepared to live with short term stays, extensions, and If necessary leaving and re-entering the country. From earlier advice it looks possible, just not stitched together yet into a plan. Thanks in advance your advice.

Does anyone have any recent experience on being able to open a Thai bank account on a tourist visa? Tried a few banks and branches earlier and was told work permit is needed.

Hi all

Moving to Khon Kaen province in October with Thai wife - been in UK 15 years with UK marriage certificate.

I was planning on a multi non O based on marriage but understand that is now not available from UK.

If I get the single entry - what is it's validity? - i.e can I get it a month before planned arrival in Thailand and then get a single 90 day period on arrival.

In the last 30 days, I then need to apply for extension of stay based on marriage - I can meet the financial monthly deposits as I have an active BBK Bank account but it is based in Pattaya from previous visits.

I have been advised that I need to haven account in the province I apply for the extension as the KK BBK Bank branch will not update the book / provide statement / letter - anybody on the ground in KK can confirm or not pls?

Appreciate all advice :-)

Hi All-I have a couple of questions that I am hoping I can get some help on. I entered Thailand this week on a Non-O 90 day visa with the intention to extend by marriage. First question, I was told that I need to report to local immigration office upon arrival at my new residence (Ubon Ratchathani). I went to the local immigration office and they had no idea that I need to do this. I called the main immigration office in Bangkok and was told only need to report 60 days into my 90 days. Any idea what is correct or if I need to report at all?

Second question, I need to set up a bank account for the THB400,000 but the bank told me I need a certificate of residence from immigration to do so. I called immigration office and told me I can only get that from my American embassy. Is this true and does anyone have any experience with this? Anxious to get the bank account set up as needs to be in 60 days before I apply for marriage extension.

Any help would be much appreciated!
