You do not get a TM30 at immigr. You bring the TM30 which your landlord is obliged to register within 24 hrs. I might have misunderstood you, but with this you get your certificate of residency and in Chom Thien they will produce a letter to the bank stating that you are good to go. Paid B1.000, to have this expedited.

Darin Leitch Have not been in this situation myself, but I am quite sure you are giving out wrong information that can hurt people badly: you have to keep minimum B 400.000, (of the original B 800.000,) in the bank untill you get your next extension based on the monthly installments. The logic in this being that these are the rules for your first year extension which you have broken. Might also, if following the same logic, be a case of overstay from the moment you drop below the agreed minimum of B 400.000,. Please correct me if I’m wrong about the overstay.

112x65.000 = ? Not 1.550.000. Back to school I guess.

what are you talking about? He has been told to go for the non O as the best way to go and there is nothing involving bank a/c in Thailand doing this. In Thailand you go to immig with TM 30 etc get a letter from them and open an account. Might want to avoid Bangkok Bank though with their rule of 4 month seasoning of funds.

like the «imagination office»! Think I’ll use this expression from now on, if you don’t mind?

I see you are confused, I made the same mistake: thinking that the rules of the embassy would be similar to those of Immigration - they’re not. So check with your local Imm office what is needed for a yearly extension and when back in France apply for new non-O and start over again and try to time it so you are in Th for next yearly renewal.

Go to immigration and ask them! I have found them quite helpful if you turn up properly dressed and respectful of the job they are doing. Trick is to find out who is there for «the picks» and then avoid them. A tip: the head officer who screens most applications at the information desk before passing the papers on - or refusing them - is someone you might want to avoid. Good luck!

Been through the same thing, came in on a non O based on marriage but didn’t have the confirmation from Royal Thai Embassy so stupid me at Imm in Chom Thien: «OK, I’ll do it based on retirement then». Immigration officer: «Much easier!» so that’s what we did. Paid baht 1.000, for same day letter to the bank -opened bank a/c, baht 7 or 900 for net-bank on phone and finally baht 1.900 for year extension. This was Chom Thien, probably differs, but there is more paperwork involved in an extension based on marriage than on retirement. Might work for you also?

big ? mark about the need to have tb 800.000 in your home bank a/c to get the non immigrant 0 visa? Never heard of, never had to (Norway). Funds were never a topic before applying for the extension here in Thailand.
