I applied for this in October, still waiting. I own my condo, not sure if that matters but didn’t help either.

it’s not a scam but is a loophole. Some people sign up to an Ed Visa and don’t go to school. So they stay in the country longer without following the rules, a loophole. But immigration are getting stricter and making sure people go to school if they have an ed visa.

they are only clamping down on it to ensure people who enroll in a school with and ED Visa actually attend school. If you attend school and follow the rules there is no problem. Lol it makes perfect sense to me, if you are in a country on and ed visa that you must attend school. I am glad they are weeding out the people who break the rules.

Please keep in mind if you choose the Ed Visa option you are expected to go to school about 4 days a week for about 2 hours a day in most cases. Immigration will check to ensure people go to school regularly. I suggest that you do not choose the Ed option unless you plan to actually go to school.

Nasser yes it matters. If you want to get an Ed Visa you actually have to go to school. You can’t just sign up for a course and not go. This is the reason immigration is making it difficult for people who follow the laws of the land.

I wasn’t trying to fight it or even complain about it. I am just simply inquiring about it as I just recently heard about it.

I personally got my Thai drivers license for the first time here on a 30 day tourist visa. I went to the immigration with my key card from my hotel and they gave me the residency certificate. My situation has changed now but the first time I got it (2.5 years ago) this was the case.
