Why did I only receive a 30-day stamp instead of my 60-day tourist visa in Thailand?

Only received a 30 day stamp on my passport, although I have a 60 day tourist visa. (Yes I provided the visa to the officer) This ever happen to anyone else before? Is it possible he just gave me a "visa exempt " stamp?

Was wanting to change over to Education Visa and start Thai language school.
