Hi, which immigration office do I attend in Chaing Mai to extend my 60 day visa? Does it matter I arrived in Bangkok? Can I just turn up and extend it? Thanks in advance. 🙂

Update on my tourist visa extension. It appears my post yesterday was closed by the moderator. Rather than wait until closer to our exit date we decided to go to Immigration in Bluport Mall, Hua Hin yesterday. Asked the hotel where we are staying for a TM 30 based on advice I received on this site. The hotel seemed confused about my request but eventually gave me a print confirming my booking. Arrived at the office around 1:30 and took a number. While waiting for our turn we had our photos taken at a kiosk close by. We waited about 1.5 hours and were called in. The official asked for our room key and was not interested in our printout from the hotel. Ten minutes later we got our 30 day extension even though we just arrived three days ago. Very nice place to get the job done. 🙂

Hello there! May I ask, Is it possible, and or easier, for a U.S. citizen to apply for a Retirement OA Visa at the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles, CA? Thank you.

UK citizen and passport holder, retired and living full time in Thailand.

O-A Visa and extensions since 2014. I tried to upgrade my health insurance coverage from 1 million to 3 million Baht, but was refused. Therefore I do not meet the health insurance requirements for a Non O-A extension. (I have International health insurance elsewhere).

Therefore when I returned from the UK from a holiday in December, I cancelled my Non O-A extension and insisted on a 45 day visa exempt, which was granted at Suvarnabhumi after considerable discussion. My plan was to apply for a Non O Visa in Thailand.

Today at Phetchaburi Immigration my application for a Non O was refused, because they insisted that I need to show that the 800,000 Baht came from outside Thailand. My 800,000 Baht has been sitting dormant in my Fixed Account since 2014 and I would have extreme difficulty showing the original source of the funds.

Therefore what should I do?

A) Phetchaburi Immigration suggested I leave Thailand and get a Non O in Laos. Is this the best option of nearby countries?

B) Transfer the 800,000 Baht to the UK and immediately transfer it back to my Thai Bank, showing evidence that the funds came from overseas.

C) Provide evidence of historical regular monthly income from the UK to Thailand via Wise. I guess they would require a 12 month statement? Would I require then to continue with monthly statements for a year after the Non O was granted? I want to return to the 800,000 Baht method as soon as possible.

D) Use an agent.

Any suggestions or comments gratefully received. I have a 30 day extension of my visa exempt until mid February.

Many thanks in advance.

Anyone who entered on tourist visa and recently got their covid extension in Koh Samui immigration office? How was the process for you? I lived in Chiang Mai for the last 4 months and there everything was smooth and easy, no questions asked. How is it in Samui now?

Not asking for the requirements, I know all of them and am already on covid extension. Just checking in how the process is since the rules tightened last month.

Hello,

I’m traveling to Phuket soon on a Tourist Visa and when I get there I want to apply for a Non-O Visa in regards to retirement.

Can anyone recommend a Visa agency that they have had good dealings with in Phuket please?

One that actually gets the Non-O Visa stamp done at Phuket immigration so I don’t have to worry about changing addresses from another province.

I’ve had mentioned to me Oriental Bamboo Language School and Target Language School both in Phuket. Has anyone had good dealings with them?

Or any other agencies.

Many thanks in Advance 🙏

Report on my 30 extension for group FYI.

Location: Phuket Immigration (not Patong)

Visa Type: Visa Exempt Entry (US passport)

In and out in about an hour. Copies of passport data page, TM6, Entry stamp. Signed all pages. Filled in TM7, with photo. 1900baht, plus 6baht for copies.

Multi-lingual volunteer reviewed, no problems, waited about 15minutes to get called to Imm. Officer. Paid, took a photo of me, waited another 20 minutes for passport.

Can confirm 30 days added to prior entry expiration date (from 9/21 to 10/21).

FYI: Overheard volunteer explain that the 60day Covid extension is 60days *from date of application*, not an extra 60days added to your current entry expiration date. Not sure if that is standard everywhere, but seems to be the case for Phuket Immigration.

Also heard volunteer state he wasn't sure if they'd be continuing the Covid 60 extensions beyond this month.

Good luck to all. Thanks to the Mods for keeping this group going.

I can qualify for a Non-O retirement visa, but wondering if it wouldn't be easier to arrive on a Tourist or transit visa and then change once there, mainly due to the medical certificate, probably cheaper and easier to get it done in Thailand. Does that make sense?

I am also considering the Thai Elite and I think I can change easily from a Tourist visa to Thai Elite when in Thailand, right?

Thanks for the help!
