Hello! I have a question regarding visa for job seekers.

I am a Russian citizen. I’ve been living in Thailand for the past 8 years on a student visa, first high school, then university. Now that I have graduated my student visa will expire so I need to find a new visa to apply for while I’m job searching or doing a probation at a job I’ll apply for.

Is there any other visa other than tourist that I can apply for? Or is tourist visa the only option? And where is the best place to apply for it?

Would appreciate any help or guidance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Russian citizen who has been living in Thailand on a student visa seeks alternatives for visa options while looking for a job. Suggestions include applying for a tourist visa, a volunteer visa, or potentially enrolling in a Thai language school for an Education (ED) visa. The Thai Elite visa is also mentioned as a longer-term option. It is noted that the Thai consulate in Vientiane, Laos, is a practical place for obtaining a tourist visa.

You can apply for a volunteer visa and do some volunteering whilst looking for work. I've heard Vientiane is the best place for any type of visa.

Your best bet with Russian pport , 60 days T visa from any nearby Thai consulate and thn 30 days extn at local CW immi. Play that ( 90 days) game 3 4 times with diff consulates and u will be able to stay another year I guess.Enough to find a job in the mean time.

Why not enroll in a Thai language school and continue the ED.

unfortunately not, I’ve had international education where they don’t make an emphasis on learning Thai, so taking Thai classes would actually help.

you probably already speak fluent Thai if you’ve done high school and university here I would think

@Henri *****
they are only clamping down on it to ensure people who enroll in a school with and ED Visa actually attend school. If you attend school and follow the rules there is no problem. Lol it makes perfect sense to me, if you are in a country on and ed visa that you must attend school. I am glad they are weeding out the people who break the rules.

@Henri *****
yes for people who don't attend. But if serious and attends I think it's possible

They are clamping down on that

If you're not married to a thai or raising kids here until you find work, a tourist visa is the only visa option available to you.

The thai consulate in Vientiane Lao is the easiest one to get a single entry tourist visa from
