did you read his post? He said you can use the extension if you don't have enough time. You cannot convert to a non-O visa unless you have 14-21 days left on your stamp, depending on the immigration office. If you don't have enough days left then you get the extension then you apply to convert visas.

Both of these things are not true. There is no ETA coming, it's on indefinite hold. Also there is no 180 days rule, never has been.

The legal requirement if you traveling as a tourist is that you can show you are leaving the country (with an exit ticket known as "onward travel") within the number of days you will receive when you arrive. So that would be a ticket out of Thailand within 60 days.

Thai immigration rarely checks for this, but the airlines often do check for it. If your airline asks, they will want to see some type of ticket out of Thailand within 60 days of your arrival, or they will not let you board your flight.

If you are traveling with a long-term visa then this isn't applicable to you. Otherwise you can check with your airline to see what their policy is.

Ruam Saab market. Although it has more foreigners now than before, it's still mostly Thai and only open for lunch for all the office workers. I love this place as I lived near here for a year.

ALL extensions through immigration are 1900 baht paid directly at the time of application (We still don't know how much a DTV extension will cost, but we should know in a few months)

Irrelevant to this question though

what? They're talking about getting Thai money so that's exactly what they want. And the ATMs don't charge any rate unless you let them. Your bank that you have your debit card through is who decides the exchange rate and fees except for the 220 baht ATM fee

Visa has nothing to do with it. Anyone that spends 180 days in Thailand is considered a tax citizen of Thailand and subject to Thai income tax.

then yes you're required to cancel it. There's a small chance the embassy will not issue you a new visa if you haven't cancelled so you should double check about that.

If you go to cancel it after you return you'll be fined 500 baht per day since you stopped working your previous job.

What visa? Is it a visa or an extension of stay?

Without knowing this information it's difficult to give you a full answer.

But to directly answer your question, yes you can cancel it after you return (if it actually needs to be cancelled, which is why we need the above information). But there may be fines involved.
