Hello, when we are coming back from international travel. Do we need to have the owner do another TM.30 every single time? Even though they've already done it for us in the past.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When returning to Thailand from international travel, the general rule is that a new TM30 form should be filed every time, regardless of whether you are returning to the same residence. However, this can vary depending on the immigration office's policies. Some offices may not require a new TM30 if you are returning to your primary residence, while others, like those in Phuket, require it even after a single night away, including domestic stays. It's important to check with the specific immigration office you are dealing with for their latest requirements.

Leave that to the owner!

All depends on what office

Phuket requires a new TM30 filed even if you stay one night in a hotel or hospital in country (as well as every time you return to Thailand). They do at least have the drive up window so it doesn’t take too long in most cases.

Yes

Bangkok immigration require it after returning from abroad. It’s easy to do online.

some year ago the Bangkok immigration 90 day registration told me that no if you coming back to your main address then you don't need to do it again.

The last time I renewed they asked me to do the new registration of the five years maybe because I've changed passports (twice) already....

The offices change policy on this almost annually.

Some immigration offices want a new TM30 every time you leave home and stay overnight elsewhere, not just when returning from abroad

this question comes up a lot and in theory (at least how the rules are written) yes you file a new TM30 every time you return from abroad even if you are returning to your same residence

BUT

In practicality it's much more dependent on the immigration office you use.

Some say as long as you're coming back to your primary residence (the one you use for extensions/90 day reporting etc) that you do not need to refile a new TM30

BUT

Some stick pretty close to the rules and say yes, you must file a new TM30 every time you return from abroad no matter if you're returning to your same address or not

Chiang Mai make you 90 day report in person after overseas travel, new TM30 or not.

almost all offices make you do the first 90 day report after returning from abroad in person now. It was a rule change the last time they updated the 90 day reporting system

I can't find the article where the bigwigs had a shindig in Bkk to promote the online service as it would 'free up immigration staff' or something, but I did chuckle when they started forcing people back to immigration offices again. Thai logic.

Thank you Tod. I'm at Chaeng Wattana and returning to my primary residence. If that helps at all. Just don't want to keep bothering the landlord for the TM.30 every time I leave the country.

I lived in Nonthaburi and BKK. I asked last time I was there and Chanegwattana told me that if I come from overseas, yes. But if just visiting in Thailand, and returning to same address, then no need. The only time I filed a TM30 was when I traveled out of Thailand and never had an issue with 90 day reporting or my extensions.

It's hardly bother, it takes 5 mins.

And, as Tod says, some offices like Rayong don't even require a new TM30 when returning from overseas.
